  • Second PCL - Monitor

Rengokuy
Suggestion : Add a Second purchasable ship, classed as a Premium Light Cruiser. The ship
is a Monitor. Level Req should be higher than current PCL, and a special FCS should come
with them that allows for Battleship level of control.

Qualities of the Monitor

Large Displacement
Able to use Battleship Caliber Gun
Able to use Heavier Crew
Able to be armored better
Small Hull
All Foreward main armament in a single turret

Little or No Secondary Battery
Slow speeds

Ships to be Added

(listed with pure historic specs, in game they would all be faster, with more disp)

(reviews are to give an idea how all would interact with one another, this may be
different depending on how SDE would balance them)

UK - Roberts Class 8500t 12 knots
2 - 15in, 8 - 4in

Roberts will be to the Monitors as Moltke is the the PCA. Namely, very good, if not the
best. She will have a secondary armament. However, like the Furious and Tiger, Roberts
will be considerably larger than the other nations premium ships, thus losing the
advantage of a small hit box.

USN - Arkansas Class (later Cheyenne) 3,225t 12knots
2 - 12in, 3 - 4in, 1 - 3in

A better than average ship. She has a slighly above average armament with a slighly below
average hitbox. A small secondary battery helps ensure her overall satisfactory rating.

IJN - Matsushima Class 4200t 16.5 knots
1 - 12.5in, 12 4.7in

The fastest speed and heaviest secondary battery allow the Matsushima (IRL classed an
armored cruiser), so overcome her massive hitbox and comparativly weaker main.

KM - Wespe Class - 1139t 4knots
1 - 12in

What Wespe lacks in speed and armament, she greatly makes up for with being one of the
hardest ships to hit in NF. Virtually no superstructure and a length of 152m (a little
bit bigger than a destroyer) set low in the water means deck hits are a must.

MN - Tonnerre Class - 5700t 13 Knots
2 - 10.8in

Small and powerful with above average speed and displacement, as well as a twin turret.
She will face some problems thanks to her tall superstructure, she will however boast one
of the most unique firing arc's in game, as the turret is actually set starboard and
superstructure to port, giving her a nearly 300 degree firing arc, including directly aft.

RM - Faa Di Bruno (GM 194) 3 Knots
2 - 15in, 4 - 4in

She has the best Hitbox to Offense ratio, as she lacks virtually any superstructure.
Couple this with her large turret and secondary mounts, she would be in a close race with
Roberts for best monitor.

SU - Novgorod 2491t 6.7 knots
2 - 11in

It's a floating dinner plate with battleship guns, it's funny. Love it. Buy one, blow up
stuff in a silly looking ship.

If you don't like Novgorod (Which I think would be hilarious to see in game)

SU - Gangut 6590t 14.7knots
1 - 12in, Multiple light guns (all in casemates)

As NF is very good at bending history. A few may have to be streched a bit displacement
wise. It isn't of concern as the true fighting capability of a ship doesn't matter so
much in NF, it is just showing a true Historic ship. Not all these ships were
historically classed as "Monitors" either, but they are close enough since they match
thier layout. Guns can be balanced much like the 15in Dual for the UK, or just alternated
out with BB weapons currntly in game.

If anyone wants more information on any of these ships, such as dimensions, design
concepts, etc, just ask. I know it all. Likewise, if anyone wants to know of alternative
ships, ask as well. Off the top of my head I can think of other options for all but Germany.

Recommended. I will cheerfully vote for any suggestion that includes Faa Di Bruno, my
favorite armored semi-mobile garbage scow.

I think the Novgorod is too wide for the harbor sprite lol!

I'd buy at least 3 nations of those. Looks like it would be a very fun ship to play
with. I'll rec tomorrow since I already used mine for today. Extremely well articulated
suggestion. Hope SDE takes notice to this one. Hell, they should pay you for doing
most of the research lmao.

darkmetal - That is the historic Displacement. The NF displacement =/= historic
displacement. Example

Thonburi historically displaces 2015t with a max speed of 15knots
In Navyfield she can put outh 9300t iirc, speeds in the mid 20's.

Mattmaster - Exactly what SDE want's you to say. (I'd probably but multiple ones....)
Which is good, since it increases the chance of them getting in.

They look like fun. I would buy one.

I've always wanted monitors in game, and Novgorod makes it even better.
Reccomended.

Large displacement? The IJN one you suggested have like 4k displacement, while the current
IJN PCL have 9k displacement. Unless they have ability to decrease weight like subs, it's
pretty hard to fit a crew on there. Interesting concept though.
