"The police are the public and the public are the police." -Robert Peel

Moderators as being as analogy to the police of the game in this statement.

Do you think the moderators/monitors in this game are like this quote?
Do you think that they are too above or below that statement?

Other Thoughts, opinions?

Obviously this isn't a thread to start flaming about them either so try not to.

Generally speaking, rules are made for stupid/ignorant people and in this case, the
mods generally have to deal with those people.

I don't expect the same quality of service that police officers who put their life on the
line every day would provide (Select SDPD personnel aside), but for the most part
they do a good job for the role they're in and the tools they have.

I love the mods that go into ragemode when you post a recruiting macro ONCE.

There are mods like Dampre, Dukeboy, Starline, and Hoon that are here to help the players
either through events or by taking care of individual problems the players have. These
mods are the ones that look at the situation before handing out bans or will even help
overturn unjust bans.

There are other mods that are in it only for the power and or the mod account. These mods
I will not name but it is obvious who they are. Question their authority and you will be
banned for it.

There are also mods that fall between this. They want to help and they have good
intentions but for whatever reason are just not good at it. Giving misleading or wrong
information on the forums is a good example. They are IMO the most dangerous.

i agree with splid their should be some sort of community council which is run by the
players. they take the information from the players and put them forward to the developers
and the devs decide on what to change add or remove..

but this is a franchise game meaning the developers of our northamerican servers dont
really have the right to change the game without permission which is probably why there
isnt such a thing like splid is asking for.

it would be great if their was, cause then every one could vote for fixing the lag and
driver incompatibility problems and maybe fix screen freezing and screen locks for all.

all we can do is dream splid.

some of the mods are fine and respectful,, however there are some who have let that tiny
bit of authority go to their heads a touch.

and some of them dont know the game rules.

so yes they are just the people in an authorative uniform.

Like all organisations there is a mix of good, bad and indifferent.

The problem within TNF is that they have very different ideas of what they should be
doing. Talk to one MOD and they will tell you that TNF is here to help the community by
running events etc. Talk to a different MOD and they will tell you the opposite.

There ARE corrupt MODs, I know it, you know it, everyone who doesn't live under a rock
knows it, but for the most part many can be called incompetent, not corrupt.

A lot of the issues however stem from SDE, this game panders to a child like philosophy
ingame and on the forums which just crushes any type of expression you want to have.
Ultimately, TNF do have a raw deal a lot of the time, as they have to deal with the
fallout from SDE mistakes and other events but the "perks" of being in TNF (And believe
me, the major one is a BIG one) easily make up for it.

The one problem I have is that TNF is not accountable in a lot of cases. The community
has no input on punishments for bias and can see no tangible evidence of it being carried
out except booting. Until players are more involved with what goes on within TNF there
will always be questions about their behaviour, a lot of them are unfounded, but at the
same time, a lot of them aren't.

I would like to see a group of players added to the Head MOD and 2 server heads who decide
on action against Moderators and who also discuss what should be done about players who
act up. Some self moderation could be employed if we were actually given the respect of
those who are in charge, but we never have, and never will.
