  • SN Seva vs US Seva

Normally I hate the "straight up whine threads," and I apologize in advance because
frankly this sort of is one but its something that is bothering me.

I have both the US and SN Seva on nebraska, and I am curious how these are
supposed to be balanced. It seems that the SN version is better in absolutely every
regard, basically identical except somehow faster and with a better spread. If you are
going to give it a better spread (partially as a factor of the way the gunners are classed
I think) shouldn't you have at least made it slower? Or a lower turning force (sort of
 at this as a balance factor but whatever).

As it is the US version has absolutely no advantage over the SN version which obviously
is not "balance" in any form.

Yet still no one is close to Picasso after not playing for probably over a year now. ;)

Well If there isn't SN Seva we won't play SN.

Yea I remember that. I also agree with the PCV thing. That upset alot of us when PCV came
out. Atleast now PBBs were brought down to BB2.5s. Now all we need is to nerf PCVs. :D

When the US Sevas was first let out for sale. It was a BB5 killer. It had BB4.5 to BB5 range. The
spread was SICK. It sent almost block shots out there and the shell damage was better than it is
now. I can remember BB5 guys complaining all over the place. Sorta like the guys who ground all the
way to CV6 and then they let out the PCV. Why grind when you can buy levels.

very interesting comparison, and yes quite right.

Again, I wasn't trying to be unreasonable and I very much take the point that ships that
cost people real money shouldn't be disadvantaged.

If there are to be changes I'd still like to see lower SN speed (as nation trait) and higher
range (as nation trait) ... but perhaps thats just me :-). Undoubtedly this would still cause
issues /complaints for some and therefore perhaps the more reasonable solution would be
the equalise the two versions (did i really just say that? eek)

Thanks again for the info and the constructive dialogue.

I am off to race some USN Seva's in my SN one ;-)

All the best

You can sort of ignore the listed speeds here since there is a difference in crew levels
(and I was leveling AA gunners on the US version), but note the shaft horsepower
difference here. This should have been pretty obvious and is what I am talking about.

Redcap, my point was more that 2 identical ships (including the same cost) in this
case
should have some sort of balance between them, as it is its simply a case of the SN
version being flat out better in every respect.

I'm cool with it keeping a better spread, but I don't think its unreasonable to have a
trade off in terms of speed, turning force, DP, or some other factor to level that out.
This is what I meant in terms of "balance".

Bringing in talk of the bb6 or other ships is out of the context of what I am talking
about
here, I was talking specifically about the balance of 2 ships that should be really easy
to
do since they are literally exactly the same in most regards except for engine space
and
the way the crews are classed. I think you may have either taken me the wrong way
or
read too much into my post.

e: And for what its worth I own both of them as originally stated, so I feel qualified
enough to draw some conclusions here even though the conclusions are pretty
obvious IMO.
