After playing through a few of the MN ships, it seems that MN basically fits the description and intended design of the devs.
Jaguar: the feel of this ship is very similar to that of Z1 or Fletcher.
Le Fantasque: rather average DD2. Nothing about it makes it stand out. It feels like a higher level version of the Jaguar. Again, it is mediocre in comparison to the other nation ships. It doesn't particularly stand out as either a torp ship or a gun ship. One downside to this ship is its lack of a remodel.
Mogador: this ship lands smack-dab in the middle. While it does have quite a few guns, the shells are extremely weak in comparison to other DD3s, its spread is bad, and the range is rather minimal. Against the average Blitz player, this ship is sufficient, but when you face off against someone who has a strong crew and/or knows how to use range--with such ships as DDX or Z99--then Mogador will surely lose.
Pluton: it's bad reputation already precedes it. Again, the only practical use for this ship is to engage in ASW.
Jeanne D'Arc: simply put, this ship just doesn't live up to its name. The rough equivalents of the Jeanne are: IJN Agano; KM K-Berg/M Pro; US Atlanta/Oakland; UK Sirius/Edin. Any one of these CLs would fare better than Jeanne. Yes, sadly enough, even the Agano. One upside to Jeanne is the fast reload speed of the 5" duals. However, the shells hurt less than pebbles. The second upside to Jeanne might be its torp capacity. However, if you don't have any crew to man the torp slots, then this benefit is lost to you.
Suffren: unlike the other nations, this ship has no characteristic that makes it particularly stand out. As a CA, I honestly think it is closer to one of the worst. If pit against a player who knows how to use M Pro, Mogami, Brooklyn, Edin or York, then this ship will most likely lose the fight. The only ship more likely to fail is the North Hampton. However, Suffren does have a rather impressive OH, but other than that, nothing about this CA makes it particularly useful at level. Perhaps once I get the dual 8" or--I hope--when the 6" trips block, then it might become a much more competitive ship.
On a side note, with slightly better spread now, HAing with the 6" trips can be rather interesting. It was especially worthwhile when an AW Pensa said, after I sunk him, "Well it would be nice if I could hide in the shadows too."
