  • A bit of fine tuning anyone

    03. 27. 2013 04:24

War5pite

Just added to the test server!

Not alot in detail yet but soo far quite concerning in the potential for how bad this could go wrong, anyways heres some screenshots.

All the available items

[

And I guess the means to bolt them to your ship

All we know is they are Olive funded items and have a duration of 3 days.

Your thoughts on this would be appreciated.

If someone had declared on London or New York this week we would be closer to solving the desynch problem.  Guess who's fault it is that nothing is being done to fix it this weekend. Hint, the players.

You really believe that, don't you . . .

It's easier to complain about something than it is to fix it. In conclusion, grow up, help the test team, and stop expecting something for nothing.

With the entire community predicting the future, you are going to blame the community for not reporting bugs?  For the last 5-6 years (especially the last 2-3).  Perhaps it's the intermediates between the community and SDE who are dropping the ball in the most incredible way.

Relevance please.

1.) I'm not forgiving SDE for not fixing the bugs in the game. My point is that a mod asked to allow a GM/Dev join and watch HAs against UK and either NY or Tokyo this weekend. Nobody declared on the two harbors this weekend. It's like people who ask me to carry different items in my deli and then they don't buy them when I do. The community says they are willing to help with the problem and when they have the chance they don't. What does that say to SDE?

2.) I'm going to assume you are talking about TNF here and it's current incarnation. SDE has no reason to listen to a mass of people complaining about something they don't have all the info about. Now that most of the information is out a civil and rational discussion can begin. Vick and the mod team (as it relates to passing along information) is not supposed to have an opinion. Their only job is to pass along player views and concerns. As it's only 1 day since randy released the full info, the discussion is not over and I would wager that Vick will report to SDE Monday with the players reaction. Heck, it's only been 2 days since we found out it was on the test server. Patience and rational talk is what is necessary with this, not hysterics and threats.

3.) How many people complain about balance, but haven't joined the test team? If 10% of the people that complained about balance joined the test team, then more than one project at a time could be worked on. Instead, people complain about something and expect it to be resolved in the way they want 5 minutes after they post it.

Rehor, I respect your opinion when it comes to balancing/playing the game. I think you are an elitist and have a bad attitude, but that is your perogative so I don't hold it against you. I choose to believe that SDE will take their time implementing this after it is tested and balanced. The main thing I can't understand is why this is pay-to-win if the items are available as drops in game with no end to the "drop event". Everything in the game can be, or could have been, attained without paying a dime to SDE.

Tiffy

How long has he test team struggled to get info back and forward between them and the Devs?

How much was fouled up with rushed release of Italy?

How much time did it take to correct the angles BACK on Itlaian guns after the devs changed them unilaterally?

How long did the Devs WASTE on a system that will, in one patch, screw over years of balance and play adjustment?

How long will it take for the community to work out which 3 or 4 ships are worth abusing the Tune system for and make them the only ones seen in game?

Of all the above, I predict the last will be one day.

The rest took years!

Yet another fail that will be "excused" by our head Mod who seems to have Anton-Babinski syndrome in relation to reaction of the community.

A core of a few hundred players keep this game going by being on line most days for several hours each. That allows new people and less dedicated players to find a room without waiting 20 minutes. We are already down to one server because players left for want of games. Wait for it when the core players on the last server decide BF4 or whatever is a better use of their time.

It is those people who are shouting that this is a BAD idea.

Pay-to-win.  That's the complaint.  Breaking balance.  That's the complaint

Civil and rational discussions are impossible as long as their is poor communication between entities.  That's the complaint.

I hope you are aware that such is the precise issue most people have had with TNF for the last 26 months.  There is very little historical evidence (not zero) that TNF does as you say their job is, and further, TNF has frequently denied this as (one of) their job(s).

You are far more optimistic than I.

I don't want to shatter this thread so I will not post further here.  Should you want to continue this discussion I am sure you can hunt me down for a talk.

I think I understand the problem people have with the tuning system. They aren't CV players. CVs have been pay to win since the aircraft patch. If you don't have 200+ vets on elite fighter pilots, then don't show up. I think I might be done with this thread as apparently everyone seems to assume the worst out of SDE. (Not that I really blame them)

All is see is trying to milking a dying cow for last time. There will never come fixes for all the important things like HA-crashes-lags etc but bringing new stuff for cash show what SDE want.Good luck with that but dont think the Community is dumb.

The reason I keep the interest in this game is the balance, although still crap, but it is thousand time better than any of the game I have seen.

You expect me to sit and keep playing?

I didn't think your posts could get any less intelligent. Congradulations, you've accomplished that.

There's a reason we assume the worst about $DE: IT'S BEEN PROVEN EVERYDAY FOR 8+ YEARS.

Tell you what Mouth, find me an improvement that $DE put in at players request that didn't completely screw up the game and it's mechanics. You won't find one, because that hasn't happened yet.

Now, go and look for things $DE has implemented against the players advise. The 300 SD patch, the server expansion to 4 servers, Hackshield, etc. How many of those times were the players in the right, and $DE completely clueless? Everytime. Now apply that to the current situation: $DE drops this on the test server unannounced, and is claiming it will be the greatest thing since sliced bread. The overwhelming majority of the playerbase says in response that it's a terrible idea and cites ongoing degradation of the game engine due to continuing to add broken code to code that's already broken by devs who are not conversant with the base code of the game, as well as a complete destruction of over 4 years of playerbase testing and refining towards achieving a balanced game.

You keep dreaming that the sun shines out of $DE's ear. The rest of us with our feet firmly planted in reality will continue to provide mountains of reasons why this "Tuning" system is a crappy idea and will definitely be badly implemented, as all other releases from $DE have been thus far.

I consider current availability of paid advantages already barely acceptable, so any extension would likely be the end of NF for me as well.
