  • Quick Status Updates 1/25/13

TeamNF_MK2

Hey guys,

I'm afraid its been a while since we last touched base on the status of upcoming projects and news. Since work has been primarily sticking to schedule as previously discussed, there has not been much to update. However, I'm sure some would rightfully argue that this latest event was in need of prior notification. I deeply apologize for the lack of notice. It ended up springing up on us as well on account of decisions out of our direct control. We hope to provide ample notice for future events.

On that note, I wish to provide some notice for a special "bundle pack" which will be made available through the NF Store on 1/31/13. This special bundle pack is set to include various popular premium items along with an exclusive set of item that has never before been made available and that will only be available through this limited bundle. The bundle will only be available for a certain period or until 200 have been sold. This is all I can say for the moment, so please look forward to it's full reveal on the 31st.

With regards to our ongoing projects and work, please see the following notes:

Amazon Free-to-Play Integration
Work is ongoing and currently in the testing phase. More time is needed in order to fully resolve a technical issue that has been holding our devs back.

New Fleet Leader Forum
As noted in the previous thread, our web devs have had their time taken by the Amazon project which has lead to unfortunate delays on the opening of this forum. We expect to have the new fleet leader forum opened by the 15th of February at the latest.

Ship Parts Reinforcement System
Full details are still being finalized and will be made available once decided upon. The system is on target for introduction into the test server soon followed by patching to the live server in March.

Harbor Assault
TNF has taken players up on the offer to take part in observing HA. However, we still are lacking in necessary bug or improvement reports. Please send us your observations and necessary fix reports through a "Bug Report" support ticket. You may title it "HA Report".  This will provide us a great assistance.

Item Slot Max Increase
This has already been patched to the server. Player accounts are now able to hold up to 80 different items (up from 50).

Great Battle 3 aka mid-tier battle room
This battle room aimed at helping players transition from Blitz is likely going to be called "Skirmish". It is on track to be patched in February. Details still adhere to the following setup:

Max Ships
BB/BC - 10 (5 per team)
CV - 6 (3 per team)
SS - 4 (2 per team)
PS CA CL DD FF - no limit

No SS mode option (SS will be unable to enter)

Max sailor level to participate - 83

All other options will follow in accordance to GB1

Currently on the drawing board
Our team has just finished up some plans for some very unique changes intended for World at War. All I can note at this time is that the changes are meant to help provide a greater incentive and to engage veteran players.

There may be plans for a small event to be held in March. Details will be provided beforehand as they become available.

Previous quick updates can be found here

Thank you,

-Randy

Yeah, its time for Vick11 to step down, the new headmod should be nominated by the community, there should be a vote on Navyfield.com with cadidates presented by fleets with 70+ active member's i.e big fleet's and a flat out vote should be conducted to decide who the new headmod will be.

As made clear at the Fleet Leader meeting the Head Moderator is appointed by SDE and it is not a popularity contest.

maybe it isnt a popularity contest, but you should at least be the voice in between the players and SDE. And i'm sorry to say but you do not have the voice of the players vick.

I mean this with all due respect, as you have done a lot in the past, but lately i must say you look more to be doing your 'own' thing if i can put it like this.

This is a very curious reply on multiple levels.

1.) Does SDE not allow you to step down, as that's what I've seen multiple people for in this thread asking for?

2.) You acknowledge that their appointments aren't by popularity contest.  Are you indifferent towards the fact that the players you're supposed to be representing in this game are not pleased with the job you are doing?  Is the "appointment" a lifetime appointment, leading you to believe that you have a "father knows best stature" over the community?

I'd like to think people who have actually stuck around with this game and company in a never ending struggle to make this game better deserve a little bit better.  Plus, from my perspective, those responses you made to the laundry list are a tad past ridiculous.  I hope they're paying you for towing the company line.  You must have a big truck.

I have no intention of standing down at this time and if I ever do it certainly will not because a few choice players on the forum think I should.

PS. The reply is not really curious.  I dont think aragorn was at the meeting so just letting him know it was discussed and the position made clear.  He couldnt know that if he wasnt there.

Vick, step down. You have ruined enough.

If you were to put together a review of your accomplishments during your time and tenure for the community, what would they be?

Perhaps you could pursuade these "few choice players" how much you have done for them and this game.

You dont see the vast majority of what I do and that is just fine - the way it should be.  I also dont need to justify it or indeed shout about it.  Invariably what you do tend to see and hear about is the disciplinary pieces.  Thankfully that is a fairly low percentage of the work done, although quite often it is the same ones over and over.  Like I say there may come a day when I can no longer do the duties I am charged with due to external factors and I might stand down or move to a different role, time will tell.

I quit playing this game a long time ago with any rigor because it continued to go downhill.  I see new initiatives built around getting "new" players to try and play the game.  My question is why?  As their ambassador, why should they invest time and money in this game?

This really wasn't a difficult or trick question.  As "leader" of the players, you should be touting the improvements made and the justifications of such.

The VAST majority of the players in this game PAST and PRESENT feel this company hasn't done enough to make this game what it could be.

Disciplinary pieces don't make this game better, as the cheaters still roam free.  No one cares about petty "language" and "filter" violations.  This is 2013, and the internet.

Unfortunately quite a few of the discipline pieces are cheaters, exploiters etc.  The company chooses not to publish those and never has.  We have discussed that and many other things over the years.  Some get introduced, some dont.  The publishing of all suspension actions and why remains one of those.  The GMs are the first to say things dont move along as quick as we would all like, but they have also explained why at various times including the FL meeting.  Everyone in the GM or Moderator team would love to see a massive increase in resource to do all the things on the list a lot quicker than currently - but it is a hugely unlikely.

An awful lot gets passed up by myself and the other Moderators and a fair bit gets added to the list.  That does not mean it is going to appear next week or the week after.  When something is wrong in-game or an event members of TeamNF are shouting just as loud internally as the players are externally, but we dont and absolutely shouldnt show that.  The GMs I know for a fact get just as annoyed with the Devs with that happens as the players do with us.  So I shout at the GMs they go next door and sit on the Devs desk to get it fixed.  That does happen, even at weekends including today where I needed to get a Korean GM to get a Server Dev to go in and sort an issue.  All done in the background until this particular discussion.
