Anyone checked if 3 guns L1 bounce vanny at max? Maybe not with a 120 crew, but bb5
crew is still fearsome.

no it's not IMO.

played both, at lvl with only 3 engies(I splited my crew to L1 and Vanny and diden't
bother moving them all the time)....

and I WAS geting 170k-230k IN BOTH ships.....
reason why I said WAS, there where less CV's...but the ones that where ther at
least scouted....not like this days -.-

all so...your assumtion is wrong...Vanny is paper ship, only BB4 wich can match
Vanny's low durability is Yamato...

your argument that you took a L2 salvo and lived means nothing...
I took a full salvo from L2 on my Moltke and lived.... dmg isen't allways same...

take 4 ships all 120 and equal crews....

2xL2
1xVanny
1xH39

and go to clan area and do some testing for 5h+

each L2 only shoots 1 ship all the time....all siting at max range of L2

end resoult will be....Vanny geting 1 SHOOTED more times then H39...simple as
that....Vanny is playable but it's not so great as some of you say...IMO it's still only a
BB3,5 <<< duh

Well.. from my experience playing the *new* Vanny I average 100k damage per battle. In
comparison in my H39 I only used to average 60k at best.

Papership wise I can take more damage in my Vanny than my H39 so I wouldn't say its a
majorly weak ship. Yes it is a papership in comparison to the L1 but I've taken full L2
hits and survived with half health (no SD), pulled back and repaired. It just means you do
not have as much freedom in making mistakes in the Vanny compared to an L1.

IMO the Vanny is a better ship than the L1, I have greater range in the Vanny and for me
that is all that matters. I can quite happily fire at L1's all day at max angle and if
they attempt to rush me (when speedwhored) I simply counter rush as it is not expected 9
times out of 10. Plus the fact you are using lower angled guns on the Vanny makes it
easier to hit a target at the lower angles (for me anyways), also the fact that they are
speedwhored levels the playing field slightly as their armour setup is quite light.

In comparison I hated the L1 WITH A PASSION, I could not stand having the lowest range of
the BB4s and hated the fact I had to rush in and take fire, only to attempt to get in
range to begin with. If I wanted to do that I'd have stayed in my Nelson.


As people have said, it is all down to play style. If your more a KM style of player then
the Vanny is in good hands, if it is in the hands of a stereotypical UK driver (AWed,
rusher, reliance on UK armour advantage) it will fail epically in comparison to an L1 in
the hands of a stereotypical UK driver.

IMO...it's playable ship...and I my self do just fine....HOWEVER this fail topic is saying
Vanny > L1 wich will never be untill they make Vanny a PROPER BB4 IMO....(at least

i played that ship for nearly 1000 games. and i have rarely bounced shells.
the full damage output is not that high like the iowa or lion-1 guns of course.

but to read that you get one shotted a lot of times, is just crap. nearly all BB can be

vanny is a great ship. its all your personal playstyle. a player who prefers a
oneshotter, frontgun ship or AW ship is totaly wrong here.
for vanguard you need a eye for the situation, knowledge of your ship.
but its on you, and not on the ship to be successful or fail.
ppl crying about the h44 and celebrating it in the same thread. same here for the
vanny.

If you only put the salvo dmg and durability to be considered, then KM ships are far more
to fit in this category. So as many people said, it depends on the play style and skill.
And from my experience, Vanny is pretty good at taking out small ships and easier to hit
fast moving targets. While L1 has rock hit shells and armor

Once again, it's personal preference, so i think we shouldnt discuss too much about which
one is better but whose skill is better

As others have said, it all comes down to the player, and their preferences. I have
played pre-patch Vanny, and after-patch Vanny, and there is no doubt I enjoyed the
pre-patch Vanny more (even with lower level crew).

Damage-wise, it is true Vanny suffers out the most, the most I've done in Vanny per
salvo was 30k and that was definitely with crits. If you're expecting massive damage per
salvo, then L1 is the better ship. With Vanguard, it takes patience to wait for the right
time to rush, and when that comes, there is no better feeling than putting a solid 15"
salvo on a BB4/5/6. Maybe that is why I like the Vanguard more.

those saying vanguard is a fine ship .... havnt played the old vanguard

When you saw an old bb 3.5 vanguard, you would treat it as a bb4 .... this new bb4
vanguard you treat it as a bb3 ... its nothing but food

L1 is better because is good for rushing but vanguard is better in range but is a
papper ship

To say the H39 is bad is a lie, i consider it one of the best bb4's, with good range and a
goo AA battery, and decent damage output.

Back to the Vanny, its a fine ship and does wat it does well. It either line fights with
the duel guns. Now if u do have the duels know that u need extreme skill and luck to sink
a bb5 of the same skill. Usually blindness is required and by then u need to make each
shot count while dodging.

If u run triples, u have massive firepower. This would be my GB setup and man, play
conservativley till u see a opening and go for it, slingshot and win. 12 guns of that
caliber do alot of damage and the spread is good.

The L1 to me is a easier ship to use, but its very one minded, all u do is rush and shoot.
The vanny develops your tecnique.

to answer the question, L1 is a better ship in ANY situation. But to be more specific with
the answer..... Vanny=bb4 rooms, L1=GB rooms
