you forgot the most importan thing... Vanny as a UK ship...is LESS durable than
H39....you'll get oneshooted a lot...asuming you let your opponets get in range...

so I would say H39 is a decent ship...Vanny is as well...however as a UK ship it fails...

As Marko said, different play styles. Neither is better.

I have found after plenty of games in both ships that my highest Attack scores (200
K) have mostly been in the Vanny. The range difference can be countered by the
fact that low angle guns can let the Vanny player cut in, sling a salvo, and get away
from the high arcing shots of an Iowa or Yammy with little damage

With the Vanny, you need to get the enemy in a line fight. If they are running, then
only the 3 gun SW Lion can run them down. With the Lion you need to wait for an
opportunity and then rush.

If I am in my Lion and I see a H44 all alone with no other BB to support it, I am
instantly attacking. Harder to do with a Vanny

1. HE damage values are bogus for comparing damage output.
2. Vanguard got low angle guns, means less damage and more belt hits at max range, further
lowering the average damage.
3.From experience: Iowa, Yamato and L1 can all do something about 45k attack with a full
salvo, H39 about 35k if you manage a full hit (which is pretty rare). In my Vanny, I
average about 28k for a full, only deck hit. This isn't slightly lower.

awesome ship. If you go by the numbers alone the damage output is greater for the Vanny
than the H39 and the Iowa (1170ish damage for H39 and 1238 damage for the Iowa in

Shes obviously going to have a slightly lower overall broadside damage output compared to
the Iowa, Yamato and L1 due to their triple gun setups but once you get her spread
relatively tight she can destroy BB4 and BB5s pretty easily. Coupled with 40knts OH and
low angled guns shes one of the best BB4s ingame.

There are downsides to the Vanny as allready talked about in another thread. out of
all BB4 it is the worst ship on so many levels even with high level gunners.

The poor vanny guns are not a match even for some BB3 and while other players
talk about different guns to use they are for fun only unless you are in a game
where the players dont have a clue then its a no win for you.

I'm speaking of over 5 years of play. for those that never did get the chance to play
Vanny pre patch might not understand because it was a fine ship to play a lot
should have stayed with the ship instead they messed it up too much

Both ships are great to play with but many people just look at GB2 nowdays and forget
that most people armor everything UK has so they think, ohh vanny is uk so AW so
slow.

Wrong Vanny is a great ship if used in the proper setup or like mentioned above
equipped with the 16" or 14" (thought 14" is more for fun).

It's how you play it that matters, I have both and I like the L1 style better, it's more a
UK style >>!!!BUT!!!<< a fleetmate uses vanny and just wipes the whole enemy team
with the same ease, he likes the advantage in range.

It's all about personal favorite, not about the better ship.
The driver determines the outcome, not the ship.

Yes, because to armour the L1 you will lose speed, so if you fully armour the L1 the Vanny
will have the greater speed. Also the L1 has better level guns for damage output however,
if you put the trip 16's or the quad 14's on a Vanny you gain ALOT more punch than an L1
(an extra turret worth over the L1) and you are still able to do 40knts, the only issue
doing this is you are outranged by about 1cm but most L1's continue to rush Vannys anyways
so the range disadvantage is negated by the L1 player 90% of the time

As stated above, the Vanny and L1 are different playstyles. Vanny is more KM style while
L1 is more of a direct/in your face playstyle, which when coming up against a quad 14'' or
trip 16'' mounted Vanny works to the Vannys favour.

Training skill is more important than just ship, if you can do like the top players, then
even a BB1 can become a tough opponent

ive said it once and ill say it again,

its all about how YOU play the game not how the ship performs, so for those who
like line playing then theyl say the vanny is better , and those that like to rush will
say that L1 is better, its a never ending conflict.
