  • Data Corrupted Issue - March 2011 Update

    03. 07. 2010 08:54

Stormvanger
Our favorite issue is still with us, so long now that I've put a YEAR in the update in the
title. There's still no blanket fix for this issue, the updater still sometimes fails to
update your installation correctly and the result is the "DATA CORRUPTED" issue we've come
to know and loathe. Anyway, with the latest thread update, we've updated some of the
procedures slightly. (I'd say "enjoy", but I know you won't.)

There's no best way to fix it, as each fix depends on your PC's setup. And all our PCs
are at least a little different. But if you are seeing the DATA CORRUPTED message,
the method that has worked more often than not is as follows...

1 - Go into control panel, add/remove programs and uninstall Navyfield.

2 - Use regedit.exe to open your PC's registry. Search for "SD Enternet" and delete
anything it finds. (IF you are not comfortable editing the registry, you can skip this
step. But if it fails to solve your problem, you'll likely have to go back and do it again
and add in this step after all. People have reported success both with and without
this step.)

3 - Navigate to your SD Enternet directory (usually c:\program files\sd enternet) and
delete it and all subdirectories.

4 - reboot. (it's windows, it loves this step. =)

5 - Go to the DOWNLOAD section of this site, the GAME DOWNLOAD subsection and
download and install a fresh copy of navyfield. CNET will take longer but seems
always reliable, while SDE's link is quicker. (Current version is as follows...)

http://sdentglobal.nefficient.com/sdenternet/Download/NF1315.exe

6 - DO NOT START THE GAME AFTER THE INSTALL

7 - Now hit this URL and download the latest manual patch and run it.
http://www.navyfield.com/chkcount/chk_download_05.asp?Code=button_patch

8 - Compatibility Mode is no longer a good idea, since the Hackshield patch. DO NOT use
Compatibility mode.

Steps 5 and 7 combined bypass the updater altogether and install the latest version
of the game. This has worked for quite a few people. PLEASE test it out and let us
know if it worked or not!

IMPORTANT NOTE - some users have reported success by disabling their anti-virus
software during steps 4 and 6, as non-standard or out-dated anti-virus programs
can interfere with software installations.

THE LAST THING TO TRY

If you've followed the above steps and your computer is still trying to deny you your
gaming experience, please open a support ticket on the blue column to your left.
There might be something amiss with your account that only a GM can fix, or your PC
could have a non-standard setup that a tech mod could advise you on.

Just wanted to add my input regarding the situation....

After reading through this thread trying to fix the issue, I found that Desertprince's
recommendation to DL the 1.285 client, 1.286 patch and then allow it to auto update to
1.287, worked!

Like so many others, I was having a heck of a time trying to get this game to work after
the latest patch. Spent a bunch of time reading through this thread and trying out the
various suggestions on how to get the issue fixed and the game working, only to find out
that none of them worked.... that is until I got towards the end of this thread and found
Desertprince's guide outlined below.

For reference, I'm currently using Windows 7 Ultimate x64 Edition (retail - fully updated)
w/ ATi Catalyst 9.12 Driver set

_______________________________________________________
Copy and Paste of Desertprince's earlier post containing his method.
Edited by myself with corrections to a new/updated DL link for patch.

"I solved it by this method cause the updated method doesn't work

1) As usual: uninstall NF and delete the SDenternet folder from your program files
folder in my computers

2) reboot cause your comp (necessary cause it loves it when there is a problem)

3) download NF1285 client ( yes is NF1285!! if NF1287 client method doesn't work
for you) via

http://sdentglobal.nefficient.com/sdenternet/Download/NF1285.exe

4) INSTALL both the client AND the ENFUSupdater

5) DON't start the game yet.

6) GET the MANUAL Patch 1286 via
***http://sdentglobal.nefficient.com/sdenternet/Download/Patch1286.exe***
Couldn't get link provided for 1.286 patch to work, did a yahoo search and found an
alternative site to DL the 1.286 patch @ http://download.mmosite.com/download.php?id=4066

7) Patch it and you shouldn't have the Auto patch or Enfunsupdated failed message

8) Move to your installation directory (typically "C:\Program Files\SD
EnterNET\NavyFIELD\" and right click on the NavyFIELD Launcher and NavyFIELD exe and
select "Properties" from the pop up menu. Move to the "Compatibility" tab and enable
either "Windows 98/ME" or "Windows XP SP3" compatibility mode. Click apply and close. Be
sure to do this for both the Launcher and Main application.

9) START the game and it *SHOULD* autopatch to Patch1287 AUTOMATICALLY.

10) HAVE FUN PLAYING :)"

The above guide is what worked best for me! Hopefully it will help out a few others who
are stuck.

I had 2 machines, 1 worked and 1 didn't. Both same OS XP SP3, same VirusScan
blah blah blah. I copied the SD Enternet Directory from the working one to the
broken one. Problem solved, seems maybe broken update files pulled on different
days?

This is very sad...resolve the problem now!!! It's a serious issue! A lot of loyal players
are left aside because you fail in resolving this error...It's not fair and quite annoying!
Just asking for ONE solution!

Ive tried all the fixes and nothing has worked. I should note that i did not have the issue
UNTILL the 1.287 patch, 1.286 was fine. If i can suggest something, if its possible, which
i doubt, you should revert back to 1.286 or lower untill this problem is solved. Perhaps
use 1.288 as a revert. Its extremely frustrating for allot of players.

*EDIT* FIXED
heres what i did
unintal NF
Install 1.287 full version
-dont run game at end of install
Make all files in Navyfield and updater folder "READ ONLY"
PLay game, log in and WIN :P

Spent about 2 hours playing around, trying to get NF to work on the win7 partition of my
computer. Everything worked fine for the XP partition, so after repeatedly
uninstalling/reinstalling/patching etc...I tried another approach.

Basically I copied the working NF directory on my xp partition and pasted it in the
(already installed but not working) NF directory on the win7 partition. Voila...problem
solved, NF works fine. With this in mind, perhaps there may be a way to fix this. If
someone were to upload an image of a working NF directory, players who can't get the
methods already presented to work could try downloading the image and paste it in the NF
directory. I tried everything listed in this post and nothing helped, but that worked
first try.

I Run Vista ive attempted the "steps to fix the problem" that the Mod over there
listed twice now and all times have failed. I used to play Hard on here on the
Newyork server since it was created and droped off during this christmas seaon to
deal with personal matters now that im back im unable to participate in my game of
play. I know that Navyfield has had a history of patch problems but none as great as
this, it turns away busines to the company, and stops good players like myself from
comming back to the game. i believe this should be a TOP PRIORITY to fix the
problem immediately. My own personal recomendation to the NF team is to take the
navyfield downloadable game off the current websites it is posted on and open a
private server channel that streams and decreipts only the downloaded game,
eliminateing the possibility for corrupted files because it is streaming directly from
the home network. i do hope this problem is fixed soon, i must return to my team.

tried tanks solution just now, didnt work. i then tried what my support ticket said and
neither of those worked.

so far ive tried everything, and prob 1 thing atleast twice. im already tired of this BS
and i may just quit trying until they actually come out with a fix. for reference i can
still play on my laptop since thats fine and had no problems with it at all.

im all ears on new ideas that might fix this problem.
