  • Data Corrupted Issue - March 2011 Update

    03. 07. 2010 08:54

Stormvanger
Our favorite issue is still with us, so long now that I've put a YEAR in the update in the
title. There's still no blanket fix for this issue, the updater still sometimes fails to
update your installation correctly and the result is the "DATA CORRUPTED" issue we've come
to know and loathe. Anyway, with the latest thread update, we've updated some of the
procedures slightly. (I'd say "enjoy", but I know you won't.)

There's no best way to fix it, as each fix depends on your PC's setup. And all our PCs
are at least a little different. But if you are seeing the DATA CORRUPTED message,
the method that has worked more often than not is as follows...

1 - Go into control panel, add/remove programs and uninstall Navyfield.

2 - Use regedit.exe to open your PC's registry. Search for "SD Enternet" and delete
anything it finds. (IF you are not comfortable editing the registry, you can skip this
step. But if it fails to solve your problem, you'll likely have to go back and do it again
and add in this step after all. People have reported success both with and without
this step.)

3 - Navigate to your SD Enternet directory (usually c:\program files\sd enternet) and
delete it and all subdirectories.

4 - reboot. (it's windows, it loves this step. =)

5 - Go to the DOWNLOAD section of this site, the GAME DOWNLOAD subsection and
download and install a fresh copy of navyfield. CNET will take longer but seems
always reliable, while SDE's link is quicker. (Current version is as follows...)

http://sdentglobal.nefficient.com/sdenternet/Download/NF1315.exe

6 - DO NOT START THE GAME AFTER THE INSTALL

7 - Now hit this URL and download the latest manual patch and run it.
http://www.navyfield.com/chkcount/chk_download_05.asp?Code=button_patch

8 - Compatibility Mode is no longer a good idea, since the Hackshield patch. DO NOT use
Compatibility mode.

Steps 5 and 7 combined bypass the updater altogether and install the latest version
of the game. This has worked for quite a few people. PLEASE test it out and let us
know if it worked or not!

IMPORTANT NOTE - some users have reported success by disabling their anti-virus
software during steps 4 and 6, as non-standard or out-dated anti-virus programs
can interfere with software installations.

THE LAST THING TO TRY

If you've followed the above steps and your computer is still trying to deny you your
gaming experience, please open a support ticket on the blue column to your left.
There might be something amiss with your account that only a GM can fix, or your PC
could have a non-standard setup that a tech mod could advise you on.

Link to 1.285 =

1285.exe

PS... you don't need to do all the regedit and defrag to solve this issue, just find the
file called ENFUNSupdater that gets left behind when you try to uninstal NF.

That file is what was causing your nf to continue to try and patch the last 34 files!!!

Hello NF-Players,

i have had some problems too and i have fixed it this way:

1. Uninstall NF
2. Delete complete Directory
3. Cleaning the registry
4. Defrag the Harddrive 2x (because many NF-files have been fragmented and have
caused gaps)
5. Download the current Version of NF
6. Disable AntiVirus-programms (perhaps stay offline, if necessary)
7. Install NF and enjoy playing again

hope you can also fix it this way.

best regards

had the data corrupt problem when installing on a computer that has "NEVER" had NF on it
before.

i downloaded from the FTP server cuase it runs at aprox 340kb for me while the Cnet site
runs ABSOLUTELY UNAACEPTABLY SLOW there in the aproximat speeds of 10-16kb from any
computer/connection i have ever attempted to download it from. i then run it and patch an
ungodly 200mb of data to find out that the base client on the FTP is some what "old" 7
updates and 2 base client packs old to be precise. this leaves me with a auto update that
doesnt work and a manual patch that is to new and a 17 hour aproximate wait for the new
client from the Cnet site. i had a look around and there seems to be no alternative that
has the latest base client......

all this after spending 40 dollars worth on what i thought was a game id be playing for
awhile..... seems i was gravely mistaken for today atleast. any solution and/or work
around that has not been previouslt stated?

edit: im gonna give this an hour and try any solutions then place a ticket..... dam im
commited to playing this game, this is hardly an easly accesed game. SDE should be very
happy with the motivation of its player base.

edit2: ticketed.

I got it to work, having the same issue with the 34 files re-downloading.

1: Download the game client and lastest manual patch.
Client - Use the "SDE" one in the top right
http://www.trainworld.us/NF2/English/Download.html

Patch -
http://www.navyfield.com/down/game.asp?MenuDiv=3

2: Uninstall current NF, and delete the SDEnternet folder in program files/ wherever it
is installed.

3: Install the game, DO NOT start the game. Apparently the auto update screws up the game.

4: Install the manual patch you downloaded.

5: Run the game. It should not have to download any files, and you should be good to go.

Worked for me, hopefully I didn't just get lucky. Good Luck.

I'm having the same issues... Uninstalled the entire game... deleted files as
suggested here... cleaned the regedit.... still data corrupt issues... the client
downloads the same 34 files every single time... this is beyond stupid... And now
you people refuse to address anyone within this forum... you're ignoring a problem
you've created... Wow, just wow!!!

Oh yeah, and there seems to be still an older version of the NF file still linked in the
download section... the "FTP" download... I've downloaded both the old versions,
updated... uninstalled... and then downloaded the new updates, updated... did this on BOTH
computers... AAAAAAGGHHH SOOOO MAD

Yeah... too bad that I have two computers as well.. and I get the SAME THING on both
computers after installing the NF1285 version.. "data corrupt".. Not comfortable with
deleting register keys... so not following that option.

This is frustrating...
