  • New Ship line: The ASW ships

Now, the French Nation. Actually, yes I can see more people joining and returning for the
French nation, thats obvious. I mean, this is a BIG deal, its been a request for many many
years to have more nations then the first 4. So I can see people returning to play the French.

SS4's. This is NOT a reason for people to return, and I am saying this as an SS driver,
not just a whiner. SS's have some serious unaddressed problems in game. Lack of ASW ships
just add to this. Its not like we don't have the weapons to sink subs, we do with Depth
charges and Hedgehogs, but no one plays them because we cannot fit big fat high level
sailors on DD's, the displacement is simply too low.

Rather then adding SS4's and pissing people off more, create yet another shipline
dedicated to ASW DE's and DD's, and maybe even a CL or two.

Start of at Level 12-30 with several corvettes. 30-50 with DE's (Destroyer Escorts). Level
50-75 with DD's. Level 75-120 with CL's

Yes, this seems like a WEIRD shiptree. but let me explain in more detail. These ships will
not simply be the regular DD's we have now. They will be special.

They will have depth charge racks mounted on the stern, corvettes will have a single gun
mount on the bow. Giving you the option to either mount a gun, or a hedgehog. Two depth
charge racks on the stern. using the remodel feature, you can add space to the gun mount,
and eventually add a stern gun (while still keeping depth charges on the rear). There will
be two stern depth charge racks, each one operated by 1 sailor, so two sailors total to
operate depth charges.

DE's, or destroyer escorts. These were small ships build during WWII that were built to
escort convoy's and hunt and KILL subs. They typically had a very light armorment, depth
charges, and hedgehogs.

DE's should be fitted with two stern depth charge racks (both operated by a single sailor)
and a total of 2 depth charge launchers, one on each side. these new weapons launch depth
charges about 50-100 feet to either side of the ship, and will be operated by the second
sailor used on depth charges on Corvettes. They will have a total of 3-4 guns, 2 on the
bow, one stern. These could double for hedgehogs. Remodels will increase the guns space,
allowing larger guns and/or more ammo

DD's (reinvented, or RDD's for short). These would be more heavily armored. But they pose
a slight problem, how to arange the armorment? I propose two depth charge racks on the
stern, and a total of 4 launchers on the sides, combined, that accounts for two sailors. A
total of 4 Gun slots will be offered, which can fit dual guns, (DP Guns) of about a 5"
caliber. These slots will double for Hedgehogs.

CL's (reinvented, or RCL's). These will be the ultimate baddass ASW ship. They will mount
a total of 2 depth charge racks on the stern, and 6 (yes 6) launchers on the side,
operated by a single sailor. The second sailor will be on the bow, and manning 2 hedgehog
launchers (one on each side of the ship). They will have 4+ gun mounts, mounting guns up
to dual 6" or greater. remodels of these ships will increase the number of guns, the
number of depth charge launchers on the stern, add a third depth charge rack in the middle
of the stern, and increase space for hedgehogs.

After a player reaches level 120, he will be able to choose between the BB6 or the CV6
(having dedicated all his time to killing subs, its only logical that he can choose)

These ships will add yet another line to NF, all the ships should be generic, and the tree
can be the same for all nations (with the only difference being guns), and once and for
all bring balance to subs. The only reason subs are NOT balanced in NF is because there is
no one hunting them. BBs carry hedgehogs, but that makes the BB's vulnerable to carriers.
Dedicated ASW ships is the only way to balance subs. EXP and credit gain should be fair.
And Displacement should be larger to fit heavy crews. This is why no one runs ASW ships,
because when the crews level up, they get heavier, and eventually cannot fit on DD's and
CL's anymore.

@TheHelmsman you tell :
''you have no concept of reality''

wrong concept ???? i tell:
YOU,try to read more about blamed u-boat
Im not angry about your litle kwnoldge(subs),i hope you improve that,i no hate any
ships in NF !
I tell many time any lvl is irelevant only relevant is the information about subject, you
faild like all grinders subs.
''another buff(haters)subs''
Watch that and search more information next time :

In conclusion you faild !

redite for:
@Kapusta is just a subs haters like many players grinders all goods subs player with
a fake conclusion and bad words, whend see him with some comment
about subs subject ignor this post,is ''forgoth'' any good documentation and help
him pls with truth fact not with fake desire balance.

Yes is not,the realism SH4 is much beter in almost any one but the first and very
important is:
TRUTH = Balance = Realism=Pure Judge=Kwnolodge
graphic,battle(no lake map) not fake:
HH fake splash, gradual damage in critical dive, bugs game dive,and... with certitudine
is much more.
Do want ASW ships?
Ok,but first step is to give all that improved for U-boat,and remove all fake things for
subs and hunters subs THAT IS THE REAL BALANCE!
If that is improve in nf i suport any good and truth topic atack about fake subs
things.
The points is: just the truth and all realy fact for asw and subs.
All fake data about that two eternal enemy is request to be removed.
exception is: air,relode,and crew ships.

Thats actually not a half bad idea.

NCL's are their own ships, but do not need a tree.

Corvettes and DE's should be introduced, because I see no point in just refitting the
current DD's to mount ASW. That would mean you would have to strip off torps (which are
popular with Blitz Players). The easiest solution would be to add new ships with a weapons
layout optimised for ASW operations. Inculding depth charge launchers and stern mounted
racks. As mentioned the stern mounted racks are important because it will cut down the
accidental self killing seen right now.

I like the idea of these ASW ships. I also have my own suggestions as a small boost to
counter subs. Sadly, nobody has replied to it. :(

Now I suppose another practical question is whether or not these ships have their own ship
line or could you use them as long as you have an appropriate level BO, much like the NCLs?

My only issue is that Corvettes, Frigates/Destroyer Escorts were slow IRL... but being NF
that doesn't really matter. I'd be more inclined to have the DEs start out around 25-30ish
and perhaps a higher level ASW destroyer.... not too sure I'd want an ASW cruiser.

Your solution solves the major problem that existing DDs in the game don't have an ideal R
and T mount setup for ASW. However the other one is that high level crews get too fat --
as you already pointed out. The way sailors grow, gain ability, hit caps is all very
(IMHO) problematic in NF (that is a post for another day). Why sailors have some many
people on them and weigh so much at high levels never really made sense to me. but why not
implement the solution used for subs -- simply reduce the weight of the crews by an
appropriate amount to fit on the limited displacement of a DE?

Well thought-out suggestion. Recc'd!

"Blahblahblahblah BUFF SUBZ LOL"

By your own admission subs are imbalanced, but you nonetheless want to make them even more
so. Just STFU, Altsein, we all know you're in love with your overpowered sandwich-boats
and we all know you have no concept of reality. So just stop posting. K? Thx. Bai!

why not just put the destoyer MP in game, the first boat that pops up when u click
shipyard. and make that a corvette. Some people are dedicated AA, some ASW,
Some just rush and die. I've pretty much have gotten used to being chased by a
sub. Then when he runs out of air let him have it with a broadside. But who knows
with the release of the "unber IJN SS4" maybe more folks will play a
dedicated "Hunter Killer" DD. and if you keep your crew nuetral they wont get any
higher then 25. so you wont have to worry about fat crews. and my personal fav
ASW ship US Somers Class. 3 HH's and 3 DC racks.

''The only reason subs are NOT balanced in NF is because there is

Yes the subs is not balnced inNF that is perfect truth, the solution:

I. remove all HH for all class of cl,ca,pca,bc,bb,pbb,.....
keeping just for ff and dd-more realism is make the game beter.
The HH is have a fantastic huge(fake) splash, huge range.

II. new type of torpedos aqustic, high angle atack, fast walter turbine big distance 8
km without sacrifice speed, twice range in actualy battle room.

III.new Iprovment for KM subs:
1.Alberich Improved anti-detection coating reduc 20% r.s and s.s 20%
2.Tarnmatte reduce 25%radar signal and sonar signal25%
3.Improved Tarnmatte reduce 35% r.s. and s.s 25%
4.BoldType 1,2,3,4 and 5 block incoming signal for :10,15,20,25 and 30 min(Bold 5)
10charge,to keep nf balance is transformed in second.
5.Balkon Gerate hydrophone
Im bored to educate all haters submarines players.
mmm 5 RECOMMANDED??? ha ha ha no one like to read about blamed subs?
P.S search with google engine if that improve is exist or not and used in ww2.

Perhaps to address the issue of displacement (to some degree), it would be good to see
some higher level ASW weapons which have either very low or zero weight. That way you
could use mid level gunners to operate them and still fit within the displacement.

But to be honest, I don't think there's a need for new ships or weapons. The ASW option is
there for those who wish to do it.

As for the problem of running out of subs to kill, I read a while ago that there was plans
for perpetual battles, if that ever happens I think more people might go after subs more;
you'd get to kill them over and over again :P

I agree that there are to be truly dedicated ASW ships in NF. It seems rather sad
that with all the dds and ffs running around, someone should be looking for subs.

Recc'd.

Displacement, thats the reason. You cannot fit a level 60 crew on a DD and do anything
useful with it. New ships allow us to avoid that, and I would personally love to see
Corvettes and Destroyer Escorts in game, they were several real world important ships
