  • So, Whats a CV's Role?

Just a wild shot outta the ole NavyField Dark, what exactly are CV's expected to do during GB2?
(Considering GB2 is all anyone can play because nothing else pays out experience or credits,
even though the pay on the experience for experienced CV players is crap) (I should expand on
this, considering I make at the very most 20k experience per pilot when I spend most of my
time scouting, but if I do anything other than scout EVEN BOMB AT THE VERY END! I catch flak)

Scout?
First thing that comes to mind for about 95% of BB players.
I remember when CV players used to tell the BB types to go fly a kite but thats another subject.

Bomb?
Do any of the honest hard working cv captains feel a bit put upon when a bomber whore is on
your team? I do, I mean I have to work harder scouting.. while he just spams bombers and
racks up attack. For the love of god I actually had a BOMBER WHORE tell me I wasn't scouting
enough!

Fight?
We train for months on end so our fighters will be top notch.. is scouting all we're good for?

I'm trying very hard to meld into the whole GB2 crowd, considering there is no other way to
make decent experience. Is there any way to make everyone happy? Certainly not. However,
I've come to the conclusion that theres just no making ............. I would say everyone but the
truth is........... ANYONE happy. I can sit right behind the BB line and spam fighters for 8-10
minutes straight, drop the 'vision' for thirty seconds and hear NOOB CV, SCOUT SOUTH! with
no delay.

BB captains are up on the front line doin' there thing.. takin time to pick thier shot. They get
popped for one reason or another and who do they target with the accusations? Did it ever
occur to them that they shouldn't have been sitting back waiting for the right opportunity? That
the guy that just sent 3 waves of 10 fighters is sending even more fighters now so they could
see... fighting against 4bar gold emdens/moltkes.. lvl 120 tier4 ftrs... and gas
consumption.. just so they have thier precious 'VISION'. I actually had a guy tell me tonight he
can send fighters over the enemy AA and not lose a single fighter.. mmm BULL*&%$
Four Bar Gold Emden? .. sorry but your full of it dude.. even if he doesn't have his angles right
all he has to do is spray in your direction and at least one will fall. And lets not even touch on
Flagships and SS's.

SCOUT NOOB! that is by far the most prominent two words in the CV's vocabulary.
Everyone wants 8 cv's to magically appear in thier GB games but can't figure out why nobody
plays cv when the insults fly so freely when a certain side loses.

Bottom line is I dont think BB captains understand the impact they have on the CV pilots. I've
been grinding (almost up to Shinano now) for about two months and am still amazed at the
insults I recieve on a daily basis. I can spam fighters for half a dozen games, same number,
same technique.. SAME WAY. If we win its fine but if we lose.. it always seems to be the CV's
Fault.

I am truly trying to stay with the popular consensus and use fighters mostly to scout for the
better of my team. But with such a low experience gain, and the constant insults why shouldn't
I just bomber whore and ignore everyone?

I used to abuse CVs all the time. I even flakked down friendly bombers if I felt that bombers were
inappropriate. Then I decided to get my own CV and FW. Now I realize what an ass I was and I am very polite
to CVs. Instead of "omfg noobs I need vision south!!!" I say "I need vision south please."

most ppl thinks that playing as BB's slaves makes you a great CVer, that's the current
role of the "best" NFNA CVs sadly

My point is, I don't mind being blind if the cvs are trying and not doing stupid noobish
things.

I moan about cvs but I also try compliment them. I also think it is much harder to be a cv
driver than bb, but you can survive and provide sight in GB with inferior fighters.

Overall, down with Subs!

i find that communications, or the lack of, is the key to sucess or failure.

"NOOB CV" does not help the team "T4 south spotted" does, IF the highest CV then switches
to south to face those with his T4 instead of the CV1 that is located south that moment

"SS here" does not help the team "SS in the middle inc" does

"BOMBERS INC" does not really help the Team "Bombers inc north in border" does

splitting the CV helps, but what can i do when i go south with my lvl 76 fighters alone
while the 4gold pcv's hang in north or starting point picking on lower planes and/or send
4 waves of bombers at the start, while i get slaughtered by T4 south trying to scout .....

It goes on and on like this but in my head the only real missing thing is communication
and coordination between the players of a Team.

In HAs & FWs your obviously working with your fleet so your role in keeping the enemy blind an providing sight is
your number one job. Bombing would be secondary but only when your told to do so really.

In normal games, it's up to you how to play. Bomb like it's going out of fashion or fighter whore your way to glory.
Whatever you choose to do, just remember you need to be thick skinned to take all the abuse. I know I'm guilty of
the abuse I give out to CVs.

This has been an issue for a long time, and I don't think there is a solution that please everyone.

So Kil if a Cv heads say.. north behind you and you have no vision whatsoever for five or six
minutes straight, your okay with that.. because he launched his bombers when there were no
enemy fighters around?

As a CV driver, your role is to watch your team fail horribly, while you can't do anything
against it.
Yeah, you can give them sight, or if you're BWing, bomb some BBs, but most of the time,
you'll be crying like a little baby while you watch your team getting butchered.

IMO cv drivers can bomb, cover scout as they please but.....

Don't launch bombers into waves of fighters.
Don't fly anything at default height.
Try to provide sight with bombers if you can.
Find enemy bbs at the end of a game.
Don't bomb pointless targets, unless there is no other choice at all.
Don't just green cross you fighters that is no use to anyone.
Don't boarder hump bombers.

And most importantly please please please ensure that you split north/south evenly. Yes
you may be against a higher level cv but it is almost always auto lose if no cv goes south.
