BEWARE of the above! My pc has become infected with this * of a malicious 'browser hijacker'.

Each internet search engine I have (firefox, google chrome, IE etc) has all become hijacked and has the homepage as isearch-claro search engine.

It infected my pc after trying to download some music (something I actually havnt done for like ever, tried once and this happens! So yeah.. learned my lesson lol)

It isn't a simple 'uninstall programs' issue. You can remove it, its still there.
You can set in each of the different search engines settings page to have their original homepages or w/e u want, and it'll over-ride it and still be there.

Every search of it I find mentions having to delete things from regedit, and that it is quite dangerous touching things in regedit so if im not sure, to consult an online experienced comp tech (makes me even mroe wary).

But every time I look in my regedit, these 'random' regedit files i am supposed to be deleting aren't there. Who knows...

Either way, if anyone knows how to get rid of this thing, please tell me!

Usual anti-virus's aren't managing to pick it up/delete it properly... Im using avast, and spybot search and destroy... Ive read others with the problem, where their anti-virus' aren't deleting/detecting it either, it seems a very recent issue, one of which I can't find a solution for yet...

*edit for profanity. cambsguy.*

Barehere

Ive come across this also.
I used Malwarebytes (download for free at   http://www.malwarebytes.org/ )
and  Superantispyware also for free at ( http://www.superantispyware.com ) to get rid of it.

I usually run superantispyware first.

Both programs are free to download and use.
It worked for me.
Make sure you run Both programs...

I think Avast to find it, then malwarebytes to clean it up.

Then CCleaner...

Thanks for coming to find help at the wonderful Navyfield Forums!

Thanks barehere and A101, I downloaded malwarebytes last night, did a full C:drive scan and it picked nothing up, but I shall download the other one too and give that a go.

Im glad it worked for you, its such a worry atm, i dont feel free to do anything on my internet atm :(

*edit*

Done superantispyware, it found 67 adware cookies and removed them, found a further 2 on reboot after removing them, but that isearch-claro is still here =(

Even better, Avast blocks it from even downloading.

Also spybot search and destroy blocks most of the loopholes in IE and Firefox that viruses download through.

Security: Firefox, Chrome, IE

Speed: Chrome, Firefox, IE

I highly suggest Ad Block Plus as about 30% of malware viruses come from website advertisements.

Nope, Avast does nothing to stop it. I had Avast installed, and it managed to bypass Avast and install itself. Spybot search and destroy did *not* remove it *all* from my pc, only parts of the malware...
Ive had to do a full reinstall of windows to clear the entirety of the malware from my pc...

I use firefox with adblock plus (noscript is a pain in the rear), and Avira anti virus.

Download music from piratebay..

I've had no major PC problems with this simple set up.
