If your afraid to edit your registry (Windows 8 doesn't enable registry changes til its confirmed windows will still run after the change so its pretty safe) There is programs to activate the start menu, just watch out for a few that do have trojan viruses in them.


Manually is probably the safest atm. (Or check Microsoft's Forum for a legit program to change the key for you.)

 

 

***NOTICE*** This also disables the MetroUI, so if you like that feature, it is impossible to have the Start Menu with it at this time.

It's called the Modern UI now. Microsoft was sued for trademark infrigement with the "Metro UI" terminology.

The link I posted in the OP, disables Whatever the name is currently UI and brings the Start Button and Start Menu back.
