Does your AAW ability cap out like reload? Does the AAW ability only works when the crewman is in certain location? At best, how effective can this be.

It doesn't work.  Ignore.  Reload stat for AA gunners.

Like Mako said, AAW stat is currently disabled.

AA gunners should be leveled with consideration for their reload stat primarly, and their accuracy to some degree. For MN, SN and RM it is simple to level AA gunners as they are just standard gunners, but for USN, RN, IJN and KM it can be more complex because classing to the AA classes which provide more AAW tend to slow the growth of the reload and accuracy stats. Most USN and RN players either just class their gunners as reload gunners and use D variants of the AA guns with AA shells loaded, or keep their AA gunners as armament sailors while their reload stat grows, until classing them as proper AA gunners to gain access to the AA specific guns. IJN and KM players rely more on competent AA and the specialised AA guns and dont have access to specialised Reload gunner classes, so they mostly tend to delay as armament sailors rather than class normal gunners. How soon you choose to class your delayed armament sailor as an AA gunner is based mostly on how soon you believe you can reach the reload cap, which can be done quickly if you invest in many experts and vets.

When it was working, the AAW stat of all sailors (all sailors in all slots) plus the ships natural AAW value would all contribute to a final AAW stat. AA sailors were the best at contributing, in a similar way to how all sailors contribute repair but repairers add the most, and again with restore. Due to the inability to properly balance the large range of AAW values that could result from this the sailor AAW stat was disabled, and now only the ships static AAW value is considered.

That is one of the most retarded thins I heard TNF do. They just can't limit it to the sailors in the T mounts? Or just to the AA sailours?

What's the point of playing USN outside of a CV?

Well, some people don't care about AAW, since I'm can aim AA, I was depending on the USN crew and ship to have the best AAW so I would not be CV bait.

So whatI am suppose to do with a Elite/premium US crew?

This change is years old, USN has since been balanced with consideration to AAW not being a national advantage. They remain a well rounded nation, average in every area at worst. Their best advantage is they don't really lack in any area, and mostly they do quite good damage or are quite fast, plus they have the fastest reload at BB4, 5 and 6, faster even than RM.

AAW has very little to do with the ships actual AA. That little machine gun that fires when aircraft are close, that is the AAW. The more ability the crew had in AAW, the more effective that gun would be. As I said, ships still have their natural AAW stat and USN ships naturally have some of the best natural AAW stats (Even if you exclude the oddly high Sodak with it's 381) averaging around 270 around BB3-6. While RN is also very good with AAW on their ship stats, some nations like MN and RM average around 220, and KM and IJN barely exceed 200.

Depending on who you ask, USN is also seemingly blessed with the best BB6. I've never used it so I don't know what to say about it, but I would assume it has something to do with it being mostly above average at everything, giving it the strongest combination of offense and defense. With no weakness and the strength to counter every other nation in some way, it is fairly powerful afaik. Although for BB only games, the Kaiser is probably  the better choice.
