or you could drop off your dc to gain more speed

and try to get a sonarman and get an omaha or atlanta, and mount it with pHH for asw ^^

and wrong section, or you could change your title to "best way to arm a dd for asw "

Hi, maybe i´m not the best player to tell you that, but i guess using torps is better than dc, cause u can respond fire withdouth getting too close, there are sub torps who probaly kills you in one hit!

when i run ASW in a DD i put DCs on T slots and fast guns that can double as AA guns on the R slots.
DCs are supremely lethal to a sub. at point blank range, a single DC drop can at the very least cripple an SS3-4 to the point they can no longer submerge.and then you hit them with your guns. this setup requires lots of speed and tight turning force though.

the downside of dc is that it has 60% that it will hit your self and cause your xp to be crappy cause it is consider team attack if you hit yourself...

Simply put, SDE added weapons that they didnt add slots or ships for. let me explain:

DC always went on the Fantail, of FF, DD, and some CL like atlanta. NF has only two ships with DC on the fantail. FFY and FF21. it is almost impossible to hit yourself with the dc if your at full cruise speed in both ships.

Also, as far as i know, none of the ships in NF ever carried HH. that role was for the frigates, that are not in this game. If we have hh, we need frigates, they could go from level 12 to say 40, and could either be another ship line like DD or just boats that are bought in harbor like the ECL. HH should be a torpedo weapon so BB only can use 1 bind, like torps. BB with HH is not realistic, and it ruins the gb2s for all the DD and FF.

NF =/= RL. NF should be more realistic, at least allowing us to use historical setups as well as modifying them to suit ourselves.

drop as far to the rear as possible and turn so the stern moves away from the DC. it minimizes the self-inflicted damage.

I'm learning to play subs by fighting them as an ASW type. So far the best config I've seen is an Emden with HH in R slots and torps in T slots.  Use a sonarman and 2 ENG plus a repair in your support spots and leave the planes to the CVs etc.  That's my (very limited) experience so far and I've had a lot of fun against some high level subs on Kaiser while learning how to play subs someday.

I believe they changed that, actually, so it does not count as damaging your team, if you damage your own ship. I could be wrong, but I thought I remembered that from some patch notes a little while ago..
