  • Should the Italian DDs(not including the Leone) be Buffed?

Because the original thread has become ONLY about the Leone, im cutting them into two

Italian DDs have the fewest turrets, and the worst space. Most of the them only have slots for 2 twin 5inch guns. That becomes rather ridiculous when other destroyers mount 4-10 guns up to 7.9inch.

Mind you an alternative to raising any ship's space is to decrease one or more gun's space value.

===========================

#1 DD2 Turbine has 2 73space Rmounts and  2 49space Rmounts. I suggest its Rmounts be changed from 73 to 90space. It would be able to mount 6inch twin guns then, and still have only 2mounts.
#2 DD2 Navigatori has 3 73space Rmounts and 2 35space Tslots. Like the Turbine it cant mount twin 5/6inch guns, so raising its Rmount space from 73 to 90would allow 3 twin 5-6inch guns.
#3 DD3 Oriani has 2 70space Rmounts and 2 40space Tslots. Raising its Rmounts from 70 to 90space would allow up to 5-6inch twin guns.</p>
$4 DD4 Soldati I has 2 73space and 1 43space Rmount, and 2 45space Tslots. Raising its 73 space Rmounts to 90space and the 43space Rmount to 50, possibly 56space would allow up to 5, 5-6inch guns
$5 DD4 Soldati II has 2 73space and 1 43space Rmount, and 2 45space Tslots.  Raising its 73 space Rmounts to 90space and the 43space Rmount to 50,  possiby 56space would allow up to 5, 5-6inch guns

They need to be reworked but not necessarily a straight buff. Guns and ships should correspond in level and tier. There are more factors to guns than just mount space.

This is a very simplistic reason for a buff... specially since it doesn't consider the performance of the guns.

All those ships can mount the 6inch with so much ammo that if you play patiently you are more than a match for any other dd.  The Navi might have one less R slot but it's faster and holds a lot of ammo.

I don't think you understand that the Italian 6 inch guns are better than 6s or 7s etc of any other nation.   It has more attack power, range, and reload.  Simple example:  the RM 6 singles with heavy shells outranges USN 8 inch with light ammo.

In fact if you increased the dd gunspace to 90, you can only fit 2 binds of ammo which means only 50 shots.  Given the choice I would rather have the 6 singles with 450 shots which fire at TWICE the rate, and once again have more range and firepower.  And in case you don't know, the dual 6s are inferior to the 6 singles.

Don't read too much into the levels, the cost, and in some cases even the calibre.

So in the end what we all want to know is: When you have the option of using the 6 inch singles on all of these dds, why would you even consider asking for changes to enable the mounting of poor guns like the 5/6 duals?

All that is just an convoluted way to say the italian 6inch gun is a one-hit-wonder of the italian tree.

No actually I took time out of my day to arm a RM CL with the dual 6s as well as the 6 singles.  I then spent time test firing for range and reload times.  While not totally accurate, I looked at the damage each gun did as well.

Then I took your R slot numbers and calculated the ammo, weight etc.

About 7 years ago I may have agreed with you.  Dual guns even with less range sounds great.  Since then I've played tens of thousands of games.  A key component to NF is being patient and taking advantage of a ship or nation's trait.  Instant gratification doesn't come from using a RM DD3 with the single 6s but if you use them, use them correctly, and maximize its strength, you will win more battles than you lose.

I'll be blunt, you're a new player with a losing record.  It wouldn't do you any harm to take my advice.

So I will ask again - why would you want to use a gunset that does less damage, has less range, twice the reload time, weighs more, and hardly any ammo??
