Does this no longer work anymore ?

I've heard loads of folks throughout the past 2 years say Sonarman works on CV but never bothered testing it until today and found it didn't work so I'm kinda confused on whether it was just a myth or NF patched it out of the game ?

No it was on Implaccable, was only doing to satisfy curiosity but was dissapointed when it didn't work. Didn't actually spot the sub until he surfaced right on top of me. And no I wasn't Overheating incase anyone mentions that :)

I was under the impression that it was for your TB to see them, but not sure. Never tried it myself.

This is what I mean, too many rumours about how it's supposed to work.

Would be nice to see an official answer on this from someone in the know

How it worked for me was using an SS FCS and a Sonarman. It worked when they were near the ship, never with TBs or any other pilots. Have heard that using a Finding FCS may work as well, but have never tried that.

Zanon,Doughnutman, and I ran a test yesterday and determined that the Sonarman works just fine on the CV. We were able to detect the submerged SS at 4-5" awy.. Plenty of time to counter the attack.

Were you perhaps overheating? That would interfere with your sonar capabilities.

and ... DUH-OH .... someone mentioned it ....

he seems to be VERY aware of the OH issue .....or more aware of it than you are of his posted comment ..

as for the ... "" Didn't actually spot the sub until he surfaced right on top of me "" ... part ...
i can think of at least two ways that could happen ... one being the OH issue (it takes time to re-set after OH ends)
and the other is for him to have been laying doggo in CRIT DIVE mode and either ran out of air or tried to ambush

one more thing .. a captain obvious moment - but i didn't see it mentioned anywhere above ...
just like the engineeers, the sonarman only works when he is loaded in the top support slots .. ??
