  • Some specific questions on NF

Hello guys,

I have been playing NF for quite a while but I am still confused on some areas:

1.) What does Muzzle velocity for naval guns stand for? Does it affect the range?

2.) Can I know what's the maximum damage of a shell by looking at its data from the shipyard?

3.) It has been quite a while since my first CV, I know NF has updated a lot now~ these are my questions regards with CV:

I: Is medic useless on the new patch?
II: What kind of supports do you suggest to carry? I can only think of seaman~~ Others like (AA gunners, rest, rep, eng are now optional)
III: I heard the BO should has a high rest growth, is that true? Some players say this can increase the SD of a CV. However I can't find any clue to check my BO rest growth (only potential is shown)

Thanks you for reading this guys, if you only want to answer one of them, it would be useful to list the question number as well please~ Much easier for other player to read this thread ;)

In regards to the CV stuff, a medic in theory is not useless but rather less valuable. Medics should (if they perform as they're supposed to) prevent expert loss from plane loss. The real advantage to them in the past was reduction in Vet loss as well as expert loss.

As far as supports I'd prefer a full lineup of pilots and a seaman (I've never felt proof that they make that much difference, but suppose I follow the plecebo affect). Gunners can be useful for carrying HHs, sonars can be helpful in evading subs, and the standard supports have their uses.

All sailors contribute their Rest ability to the overall ships SD. This includes the BO. As for the BO only showing potential, thats true, however when he levels up I believe it does show all his stats.

Thanks Blazer, ya, I think I might use sonar as well ;), how about the muzzle velocity?

Muzzle velocity is literally the speed of the shells fired as they leave the gun. It's measured in metres per second. 1 m/s = 2.2 mph. It has a large affect on range. Shell weight also affects range (HE-heavy don't go as far as HE-light or AP) and shell calibre generally increases with range (8" go further than 6").

No. It depends which ship you are hitting, where on the ship you're hitting it, how much armour it has, how high the muzzle velocity is on your guns, and the specific model of gun/shell you're using.

Thanks, it's very detail :)

1) Value means jack squat.
Take the KM 11" the 1st L set with 1000m/s is outrange by the second 11"L set with 800-900m/s
Range is determine by hidden value.

2) You can't since you're newbie.

3) I) yes useless
II) Go for seaman if you want. But you will regret it.
III) Only way to know your restore growth, is at the reward screen when he leveled up.

Amen

Restorers are also a cause of regret on BBs.

Well not exactly, though you are right in that every other factor that affects range is more significant. I realize Richard that you're just putting it simply and it isn't that you don't understand, but let me clarify anyways so that my earlier post about muzzle velocity makes more sense.

You can only use muzzle velocity to make comparisons between guns of the exact same calibre and type (i.e. the D/L variants' range and damage differences are reflected in their muzzle velocity). So in practice, you can ignore the muzzle velocities and simply look for the L/D designations or lack thereof (unless you're looking at Soviet guns).

I ?think there is a relative damage reduction when the D or N guns are use instead of the L guns at xlose range.
It's not a very big difference because nobody but me notices it (it could be a sign of insanity! :p)

Pretty sure there isnt.

Its easy to test. In game or on the test server, use a BB5 with lvl 120 crew with whatever BB gunset that has NLD variation, and test each version salvo damage.
