So I own a RN Renown BC with acc gunners both at level 63.

I want to improve my accuracy but people suggest "vetting" them - I'm guessing that means upgrading them to have more veteran soilders. I started doing this and then realised that my experts had a higher ability rate than my veterans. So I am asking if I keep vetting my sailors will I eventually have a higher ability rate than I currently do for my experts?

1 vet = 4 experts.

That said, you will burn through experts trying to get vets, and will need to refil experts (through various ways such as natural expert growth, crits, AA or purchasing). If you burn through all your experts for a handful of vets, your crews ability will be temporarily gimped until the experts are refilled/replaced.

Read the post above you.

Your experts have a higher ability rate because the amount of experts you have creates more ability than the amount of vets. Get enough vets on there, that will change. Just try not to blow through them all at once, do it in small amounts during conversion events so you dont lose all your ability.

Do exp->vet conversions during events with increased conversion rates. Also some people say that doing conversions directly after the sailor leveled up is more successful, although I have never seen anyone providing a conclusive statistic for it.

Oh and you can also purchase vets and experts from other players. Some still have unused packs of those in their items. But I'd suggest to do that only with people you trust, because you'll have to lend them your sailors so that they can use their packs on them.

I can honestly say I don't believe there is any real trick to getting promotions, as I've tried all the ones people talk about (after sailors level, after a win, with full recruits before each attempt, log out log in, etc) and I'm yet to get a sailor beyond 199. This includes 5 120 crews, months of AA'ing for experts, and back in the day hours a day blinding myself in training missions for experts. Outside of conversion events I honestly do not believe there are any rational tricks.

Very grateful for the help, have vetted all my sailors but took your advice and trying to do it slowly. Used a few packs I had got from events etc.

Any idea when these upgrade event things are? Or do they announce them?
