Merely pointing out that anyone/everyone chooses sides, in games and in life. Rarely do many step outside and look in but rather voice their opinion when it suits them. Never will everyone be pleased, most will fight vehemently against the others, but always look for support to their own causes. Games =/= real life, but personalities, traits and characteristics travel freely between both. Forums tend to spark emotions strongly as people bring their personal beliefs, values and characteristics to the table (do not really argue them doing so as I do the same thing). But it is none the less amazing to see how much of peoples personalities carry onto forums for games (and other forums as well).
Long story short heres a few inevetable truths in NF specifically.
-BBs will be upset with CVs
-CVs will be upset with BBs
-BBs will dislike subs
-Subs will dislike asw
-Events will be unfair to one group
-Attempts to please one, will upset others
-Attempts to fix all will likely only change the issue but inevietably create new problems and the tension between all will stay.
-Balance will always be in the eye of the beholder. True balance is being equal, and frankly with national traits no two nations/ship classes/ships can ever be truely balanced.
How all this connects to the OP post. The event was to reward (or more likely encourage) more to play CV as the problem before was waiting on CVs with rooms full of BBs. End result, is the situation reversed. Same problem, different reason. A event for both at the same time would likely result in the same situation as the current one rather than a balance (as an event for CVs is likely more beneficial for people playing CVs then an event for BB drivers). CV driving (IMO) is less enjoyable than BB. I know several that share the same opinon. Beyond that to truely be good/successful in CV takes either 10x the amount of practice as a BB or a special type of person.
As one last note, Increased XP is never going to be a solution. It is a self full filling prophecy. Give more xp, and you will have to continue giving more. EXP events get people out for a short period of time and some do linger a little longer after the event, however short bursts of increased EXP do not maintain a stable population. Increasing EXP permenantly will lead to having to increase again and again. It is limitless what people will expect.
