Aircraft vs. Fighter vs. Bomber.

I am a little confused as to where and when it applies...

I do understand that scout planes use only Aircraft for both their attacking ability and health.

Naturally, the higher the Fighter ability the easier it is for your fighters to shoot enemies down; and of course, the more accurate autobombing is with high Bomber stat.

In the quest for the best pilots possible...

I've seen bombers in the past so good they can shoot down fighters. Did they have a ridiculous Bomber skill, or were they good at dogfighting because of a strong Fighter or Aircraft skill?

And do any of the three skills have an effect on how durable Fighters are when it comes to AA fire? Not just surviving the automatic AAW, but also player-controlled dual purpose guns.
