Hi Nfers,
I heard it would be wise NOT to class your FP's to SQ. leader, and class them later for more ability.
Is this true? What level do i class them?
I do NOT overvet them, just a standard BVE, max experts and 100-110 vets.
There lvl 66 atm, and 1 lvl 63.

Unless you plan to run them with a very low number of vets even at L120 (something like vets < 100) then Ace pilots have less true ability than regular pilots. Squadron leaders are always worse.
Crew growth starts at five, and goes down to four if you class to ace. It goes down from four to three if you class to squadron leader.
The corresponding stat growth is too small to make up for the loss.
So unless you plan to run with low numbers of vets (at which point, you don't care about true ability anyways), don't class your pilots higher than they need to be to use their planes.
This holds for all nations, since crew growth per class tier is the same internationally.
If you do intend to run with low numbers of vets, you can test the math yourself to find the sweet spot where true ability is higher if you do class them. Regular pilots vs. aces aren't that far apart in TA, but Sqn Ldrs are much worse off. If you don't want to do it by hand, there's a table on SK_Bismark's "NFbuilder - ship/crew/sailors calculator" spreadsheet (it's in a sticky in the tips and tactics forum).

I have no idea how to calculate TA (True Ability) or what it even is (something with ability), but I just run 100 to 109 vets. And I will keep them till cv4-5, I just want to play. What is best to do then? I do NOT powerlevel them, I just play. they are fully BVE (100-109 vets)

True ability calculation formula can be found by "view(ing) old data" by searching "true"
Given you have a full crew goes something like;
Shown ability * (4[ #vet] + [#exp]) = true ability
You'll need to do some more maths to figure out how big your total pilot crew numbers will be if you class them as Invinci mentioned, crew growth changes with classing - to figure out how many experts your pilot can hold.
Try searching "fp" or "classing" on old forum data. Some people did some real good work on it and gives you a guidanace on where you should class depending on your final vet number. (It is assumed exp will be maxed)

For the stat of interest: Let TA = true ability Let C = max crew of the sailor Let D = displayed ability (i.e. 2000ish in fighter for a level 80 fighter pilot) Let E = efficiency rating (the combined percentages from the sailor's vets, experts and rookies, as a ratio {so 145% = 1.45}) TA = D x E x C True ability is how good your sailors actually are. (So a sailor with no vets or experts is always operating at zero true ability, regardless of his stats.) What happens when you class your pilots up to ace or SL is that D starts growing a little faster and C starts growing much slower, so it hurts your TA in the long run. I really recommend you grab that spreadsheet I mentioned earlier, put your fighters' numbers into that, and see whether classing them up would hurt you or not.

There is no way to have a good CV crew without overveting them.

You can answer that question for yourself with all the info you've got in this thread, or by using the spreadsheet, or by checking out one of the other threads on this same topic.
At the end of the day it's a game with RPG elements. Being able to figure out the stats for sailors is an important skill if you're concerned with making your sailors the best they can be.

Well, I have no idea what this TA, etc is... I just want to know if i should class my sailors or not, if i want to level em and just be a CV player (100 vets, no ovetvet)
