When I get into a new vessel and putting new guns on what am I looking for to get the greatest distance for the angle?
is it Muzzle V. Vs Gun Inch? + Angle? Kinda wish they would just tell you and avoid silly trial and error...

It is determine by secret numbers.
Example, 2670, it mean jacksquat to us but in game it does. You can't find these value.

Theres so many factors, everything from angle to shell weight has an impact on it. Just go with the guns that people commonly use, these can usually be found in the forums.

Hit reccomend rather than reply by accident, could that be removed please mods?

Anyway about the thread, 30 degrees normally seems to be a good bet with the Royal Navy guns that I've used. That angle always seems to give me the best range I can get, 4.7 inch Marks IX, XI and XIX, 5.25 inch Mark I, 15 inch Mark I, 4.5 inch Marks V and IV, every one seems to have its best range at 30 degrees.

I also heard some where that the higher your gunners level is; the further your shot is.. Is this true? I can't say I have ever noticed.

Untrue. It is only the gun/shell that affects ranges.

Basically, shell range is dependent on the initial kinetic energy of the shell, and the trajectory at which the shell is fired at.

So in real life, it would mainly be dependent on:

Max angle of the gun
Initial velocity of shell
Weight of shell

Which can give you a rough idea, although looking at guns which are at the level of your ship or 1 level higher will probably give you the best idea of what gun set is best to use.

well too bad rl=/=nf :D

there some offset in range, if your moving away from enemy and fire you will notice your range increase, and in rushing your range will get shorter...

gun variants also affect range (L>N>D)

*POUNDING you space bar might help increase your range ROFL (joking)*

If you use the "View Old Forum Data" button in the individual Nation Forums, there is gun charts for most nations.

Ok put ebve lvl 120 gunners on your bb1 and you have bb6 range :P
This is a lie.
How better and higher your gunners are how better your spread is (in place of a shotgun a nice packet of shells (blockshot) or a nice line.
