  • Room Balance - calls to "Balance SS"

This is really the 1st time I'd heard or thought about it - is this a valid (new) request in GBx?

Usually it's "balance CV" or the obligatory "balance ff /s" - what do you think?

*ps - sorry for putting the FMs to work on what will surely be a SS flame-a-thon

"Balance" is a joke. "Even number" is more accurate. "Even number" does not equate "Balance".

Balance does not exist. One team always wins.

Even with 20/8 and even split. 20% of the games, some CV or BB crashes on startup, breaking the balance. However, just being 1 CV or even 2 BBs down at start is not necessarily a losing setup for the team with fewer players.

As for balancing SS, I think that if there are only 3 SS in the game, and all of them are SS5s, you can bet there is going to be a major impact on the game's outcome. One well managed SS can do a lot more damage than most low level BBs will during the game.

Aside from the threat of torpedoes, one often overlooked advantage is constant visual coverage for back up BBs, in lieu of scouts. Lose one of your team's SS and you might lose the game. Ever see those games where the 10 SS split 5-5, and within about 2 minutes the outcome is 5-0 and the game is almost over?

With the number of PHH spamming tards out especially after events, IMHO I doubt that (unless the SS is KM, or is a really skilled one to survive continuous PHH salvoes)

I agree with Ultra Dog. It almost hurts to say that but I believe he is quite right.

Certain points you are right on, but the last one you point out about the 5-5 split. One good ASW player can be the game changer if that happens, ask dingy what I did to his sides subs when they had all 5 subs left in my FF-Y.

People say ASW doesn't take skill, I beg to differ. I run my FF-Y with DC's and main guns, not Hedge hogs. In the FF-Y with that set up you have to plan how your going to attack the enemy sub so you don't get nuked by a torp or Battleship.

But yes you are right on certain points as I have said.

FINALLY!!!

Someone who knows that the FF-Y is the most awesome ASW and funnest ship in the game!!

DC racks sides and rear, Guns to hammer when necessary. I run a Level 45 neutral crew. A total blast.
