I think it would be useful to have a Wiki for NF. I don't mean a page on wikipedia about NF, but instead a Wiki that contains all sorts of game info, and players can look up data and update corrections overtime.

This page is meant to contain all the 'Facts' about the game, so most/all of the sticked topics on this forum, as well as data from other sources such as trainworld. And since this is a Wiki page, any updates in the game can be reflected almost immediately, and all the contents can be varified and correct by every member.

Here's an example of a Wiki page on a game that is meant for smartphones:  https://tinytowerwiki.com/Main_Page

I don't know how to create a Wiki page or a domain, but if someone can do this, I think it will be really useful.

PS. How do I turn on the stupid word wrap for typing on this fourm??? One huge line is getting annoying.

Do you have any idea how outdated that site is? For example, currently all the EBB3s are "Lv ?? (EBB)" under the ship tree. Since EBB3s were added quite a while ago, I am not sure what else on that site is incorrect.

Don't get me wrong, I am very thankful for that site, and for the person who's updating it. But a site is only useful if the information it contains is up to date. So rather than relying on a single person to update the info when he has some free time, I think it would benefit a great deal by having the entire community updating the information.

And for the record, don't simply state "trainworld.us So no". That's not an argument at all. Back it up! That post is as useful as me saying "F you".

I agree that trainworld may be a little outdated but anything that is outdated on there can be found here...

First of all, a wiki would be awesome. I have tried a number of times to get one off the ground, but people aren't interested in helping.

Second; You can't have just anyone with edit permissions. Too many people don't actually know about the game, and too many will just edit stuff to cause trouble.

Third; Unfortunately, there are members of TNF in that group. Just look at the pages Jphoenix wrote about the game for this site.

having a good working, good looking & up to date wiki would probably attract new players, since people interested in shooting stuff & that are looking for ww2 ships on wiki are likely to end up on something comparable to NF.

pretty strange that TNF/SDE hasnt taken a try at doing so?
after all its their product we'd be trying to make a "free commercial" for..

Ya, I was thinking about the edit permissions too. But if everyone can edit, I think eventually it will settle on the correct information. And if there are too many back-and-forth edits, a mod of some sort can lock that page like how it's done in Wikipedia. It will also be great if you have to log on with your NF account, that way every edit can be identified and tied to a specific player.

If someone will set up the page, i will be willing to contribute by porting some of the stuff on trainworld and sticked posts to the Wiki, and help organize the page.

If you look at the posts on the community, only a small percentage actually have a clue about the game, and some seem to think things are true even when presented with video evidence that it isn't.

The only way it would ever work is if the people that know about the game banded together and did it, but unfortunately, not many have the drive to want to do it. I tried putting it on my ONF site, but no-one knew how to work it, myself included. And as we well know, having a mod of some sort being able to lock pages will lead to abuse; Just look at how some of the threads go on here.

How would it be determined who knows enough to edit this wiki? Some would say time playing, some say BB6/CV6, some say games played, some say shiplines aquired...?

Have a select few that people know, and then allow them to decide on a case by case basis.

not even.

For everyone who believes one guy knows his stuff, there is going to be someone who doubts him.

Perhaps the democratic approach to dust off the polls. Let the majority of the NF community decide that said player should represent our knowledge.
