Possibility of a restriction on hosting. Either by level or ship.

dont restrict small ships to just BK until a certain lvl. if it does go through then all hosts would do it and the small ships couldnt hunt subs.

besides small ship battles are fun to watch in gb :)

What for? Because you have a new player every once in a while hosting a gb and going afk?

What about BB4-5(-6) that go afk when they host? That's the issue to me because they are the majority of afk hosts ...

That and the r****** that shout "HOST CHECK", wait 2s then "OMG AFK HOST NOOB, ALL OUT!!"

-> TA-DAAA, half the room had left before the host had the time to write an answer ...

new, veteran. FF, DD, CL, CA, CV, BB, SS. there really is no set pattern of which is more likely to go AFK (or crash out).

of course, if somebody starts a room, seeing there's a few game wait for CVs (RE: GB Games), and goes to either grab a beer or other beverage or take a quick tinkle in the loo only to miss the fact the room got flooded in 60 seconds or less because of one, or more, other inactive games. or other cases where the phone rings, somebody needs you for a second and you come back to see all the impatient noobs (including the perma-noobs, who never learn no matter how "veteran" they feel entitled to).

heck, forget about restrictions on who can host. let's just open it up where you utter the word "go" in any form or fashion, or try to back seat host = every right for a host to kick you out and not let you back in. maybe some of the impatient people would settle down a bit and there wouldn't be this mass panic because the host is silent for a few seconds, or a minute.

Bump

Today I just watched three consecutived GBs fail because of idiot hosts. One in a CA and two in DDs. Most new players have no idea how to balance or manage a fair GB. These idiots each made 40 people waste 8-10 minutes of their time. It makes the game drag and does not encourage people to log in and play. Simple fix. If the BO you come into GB with isn't L60, you can't host.

what about when a high lv player goes into a bliz in an ff, that high lv player is much better at hosting than some new player with a bb 1....if your going to put restrictions on it make them make sense...over x # of battles

There is a serious problem with brand new players hosting rooms and not knowing how the game works to start the rooms.

This has existed for 7 years and hasn't been fixed. A simple level limit or # of battle for hosting would solve the problem, 7 years later its not done, who says they'd do it now?

Levels: 15-60 for Blitz
Levels: 25-120 for GBs
Minimum Levels for Select Mode = Min Start Level
Normal Rooms lvl 12 up
Trading: Level 12 up (Can't really trade til then anyway right lol)
Clan: Radio Man.
Missions: Minimum Level for Mission

Or Total Battles, Best Option:
Blitz 100+ Battles
GBs 500+ Battles
Select DD/CL: 25+ Battles
Select CL/CA 50+ Battles
Select CA/BB 100+ Battles
Select BB 500+ Battles
Select CV 500+ Battles
Normal Rooms: 50+ Battles
Trading: Level 12 and 50+ Battles
Clan: Radio Man
Missions: Minimum Level for Mission

Also allow Host Rating (I.E during count down to start (Or during waiting Screen) Hit F# and F# for Like or Dislike host split. And show Host Rating In Room Title Bar in the Chat Window, and in the Room Details on the Right while viewing the battle area. Those that do not vote would not be counted to either. If room autostarts, or if room hits time limit without Host Activity within 30 seconds of the room Closing, then automatically lower the rating by 10% to penalize AFK Hosting.

The simple fix is just to have the highest level BO be the level that counts. Something must be done!

These are all good ideas. Anything would be an improvement over the current system.... which is nothing!

new, veteran. whether it's a crash, they're afk momentarily (or completely awol from their computers), or they don't know how to host a game. I don't think putting level limits will really solve the problem.

teaching people how to host properly in the first place, without cursing and swearing around filters at them, or giving them 10 seconds or less in some cases to answer the "gooooo" shouts as soon as you have the bare minimum to play a game don't help the process either.
