  • Partially reactivated AAW

According to bobdadog this has happened recently. It would explain experiences players have made, it came to my attention as well,in which planes are not AAW immune any more, when flying over certain ships. The effect is supposed to be enhanced in the future, so
I'd like to discuss the consequences.

Now this seems to be a buff to some sailors, ships and nations. For example KM AA gunners gain AAW stat through promotion, which until now was useless, but now makes them harder to, well fly a plane near them. It may also give a use to Machine Gunners of say IJN or UK AA gunners, I hope IJN machine gunners still exist not sure, and gives also a different perspective on late classing sailors while ignoring the AAW stat.

What are your thoughts on this?

If it's true than i'm happy cause i leveled my DP gunners the wrong way... they're OK after boosting and some overvetting and if if gives me any advantage then great.

Sadly i failed to see any advantage yet even tho i'm using Mid level TBs.
Ships that used to kill them still kill them and ships that don't still barely touch them.

I noticed 120 scouts I have are also no longer as effective down low

I know you are being sarcastic again oh Lord Rehow but hell i'll answer anyway.

Nope.
Only the MN sub can carry scouts.

My test server notes show the UK can carry a scout also.

Did that change?

it is not reactivated. The Ship's aaw was never deactivated and 120 scouts die just as easily on top of ships at lowest altitude as they did before no matter how many experts and vets are on it.

I'm referring to this post in the KM section, I might be mistaken but this seems new:

As promised I spoke with the GMs who also spoke to the chief Developer:

The AAW Function on sailors is partially active at the moment. It does not help with operating manual. Manual AA is derived from the gun specs and mainly the reload and accuracy statistics of the guns. However, the automatic anti-air gun from the ship is boosted by the AAW abilities so you are more likely to get an automatic shootdown with good AAW stats on board.

The chief NF designer has been working on this to further improve the AAW effect on both manual and auto AA and will continue to do so.

Where did Vick say this? Because nothing has been passed to the test team.

I wonder if a ship full of 120 AA Gunners will be able to take down planes compared to a ship with just a BO on.

If it doesn't do any difference, then the sailor AAW stat is still de-activated, and again it is just the ship stat.

it was on the tnf forums, that would probably be why you didn't know about it lol, I wonder if it is worthwhile conducting some research on the testserver (currently at uni but could do it in over easter)
