New Navyfield will be around in a year or so. I asked the question beofre, will GM port our accounts?
The answers seems to be "NO".
When NF2 is out there with new 3d and stuff This old and beloved and "cost much" game wont survive long. Even now this game is suffering. When 3d version come, this NF+ will be pretty dead, there wont be enough players. Even these days there arent enough players, unless an event is going on.
THIS IS A PROBLEM THAT NEEDS TO BE SOLVED. See my solution for this below.
When you buy olives, you support this game, the GMs, the developers... But they should support us back.
We will keep supporting them, and they should keep supporting us.
WHEN I BUY A GAME NOW, I CAN (and shouldbe able to) PLAY IT IN NEXT TEN YEARS AT LEAST.
For example, I bought a game in 1998, say Fallout (1); and in 2000, Fallout 2. More than 10 years have passed but I still can play them, cause I own them. And I do play them. Same goes for many more examples. I can even run 20 years old old dos games which arent abondonware yet, "legally" in a dosbox shell. Cause I own them. I have the rights to use them.
SOLUTION SUGGESTIONS:
First Solution: more platforms (linux and mobile) My solution is, if they wont port our accounts to next game, they should make this game live. How? They should make more platforms for this, like a linux port, like iphone and Symbian and Android ports, for mobile platforms, this will make this game alive again. Then there will be many more players. This is POSSIBLE. Not really that hard. Cause "net code" and "game dynamics" are solid. Since these are solid, you can use the same engine algorytm with an "easy to build" flash-like interface. Low resolution graphics of NF allow this. They can do this. YOU CAN DO THIS.
Second Solution: open source (community developed and supported game) Make this game open source and keep running the servers, this will make this game live like forever.
Third Solution: (offline (single player) option) If new NF will be another, stand alone game, then make old NF a new game with single player option. If this is a stand alone game, let us have an offline single player version, with added benefits for paying users. The game engine (client) can easily be converted to be a single player game. Missions can be run client side/offline. It is possible to create more missions easly. And how about to release a mission editor to public?
