  • Default Map

Make it one where you can actually turn around somewhere near the border without inexplicably beaching.

I never understood the major freakout that got SDE to implement these retarded NWO maps in the first place.

We Love DokDo or Blue Ocean.  Of course, leave the option for all the current maps (hell, add more if you want).

Rehor, you have been around long enough that you should remember the bruhaha in the community over a few players' penchant to retreat when the battle goes badly. Personally, I always thought the option to retreat was a viable tactic under certain circumstances but the player base felt they were being robbed of their not-so-hard earned XP. Hence the NWO maps.

An interesting compromise might be to make the borders impassable (preferably not with blocking islands) and place a retreat zone somewhere along each of the east and west borders.

i see some uses it as an exploit to hide rather than retreating

Was SDE easy way to prevent borderhumping. No other reason I can see to prefer NWO1 to Blue Ocean as it was before.

Maybe actually preventing some CV players that forget that their planes actually take off from a ship, and that said ship actually has the throttle on. Said players then end up retreating due to sheer lack of attention.

Thats borderhumping. Being off the HUD map, but not off the game map (you don't have the retreat timer)

Mainly north. There are some places where the retreat timers is activated while you are clearly still in the map.

With all the importance people place on the default map, maybe we should just ask for a change the UI so that you don't get a default map? E.g. you have to pick a specific map before you can open a room.

If we force people to make a choice, the most common maps will be the ones the most people want, and we wouldn't need SDE intervention to change defaults when popular opinion shifts.

I'd predict way too many island maps

I don't like island maps either, but is it wrong if that's what most people want?

still dont like how you turn and are parallel to the islands and still beach while 2 ships width away from the islands.

Then you are in the impossible-to-wiggle-out parkings spot

NF graphic engine. The "island box" is a bit south of the graphic display. Sometimes you'll actually be near humping an island, and won't stuck, and other times you stuck miles away.
