I understand we would have to use parallels with a version of windows, but I wanted to know if anyone is actually doing this and if it's playable.

I've played games (including NF) fine on my bootcamp version of Windows 7. I wouldn't plan on playing on it long term, just the odd day when I am away.

depending on what mac you purchased you could have used that money to build your own custom gaming pc part by part and it would run much more than just nf.

Better to make a gaming pc and run hackintosh.

For you though, bootcamp is the way to go.

Windows 7 x64 in bootcamp on a Macbook Air works great in my experience. Better than running virtualized through Parallels or VMware and no need to spend money on additional software (other than Windows).

I play NF in an Imac 21" 2007 using bootcamp with XP (i used this mac only to play NF since 2010), in the other mac i use parallels with W7 and works fine

Illogic given Mac's superiority. ;)

I do play on a Mac, sort of. Mine is dual platformed with OS10.5 and Windows 7 (AKA Mac 85). Most things are done on the Mac side. But, if I have to downgrade to run programs that are not compatible I have that option and retain the superior Mac hardware. I do not recommend Parallels. I is less efficient.
