Seriously. I hate it that I have to wait 24 hours just to recc something I agree with. Raise it enough to make more people happy, but not enough to turn people into spambots. I think around 5 a day is a nice round number.
Facebook doesn't limit someone to how many "likes" they can have in a day, so why should SDE?
Constructive criticism please, I'm tired of all the haters.

In my opinion, change it to 7 recs every 7 days. This way, you can use all 7 on one day and wait a week until you can rec again; use one a day; or any other combination of 7 recs within 7 days.

I don't think the overall limit of recs (over time) should change because, as someone said, there aren't many good topics anyway.

I don't see why there's a limit at all. There is already a mechanism to stop people reccing something more than once.

Why stop people reccing on the basis of elapsed time when the subject of such reccing has no time limitation?

I agree that there is usually no need for more than one rec per day, but just because a particular limitation exists, doesn't mean it should.

Because it forces you to be selective and also stops all the garbage posts from getting a rec 'just cuz'

I should have also added any other combination of using 7 recs within 7 days would also be okay. Like using 4 recs on the first day (because there are somehow that many good posts on the same day), some 3 days later you use another 2 recs. Now you have used 6 recs in 4 days leaving you 1 rec that you can use in the next 3 days.

As for why this way, because if we raise the number of recs per day, every day, then I think we'll see too many pointless recs. This is also good for those users who may browe the forums once in a while (like me) and decide to rec a number of posts before leaving for days/weeks/months.
