  • Modification of Team Kill penalties

Ok, so right now how it works is if you shoot a teammate it's your experience that gets screwed up. To me, that's an invitation to griefing, and I'd like to make a suggestion to encourage everyone to avoid team killing/crossing.

 

It's simple, instead of just the shooter's experience being nerfed, the one that fired, and the one that got hit BOTH have their experience nerfed. That should encourage people to NOT shoot each other on the same team a little better than the current setup.

That makes it easy to nerf people's experience by shooting them.

 

If it's possible, maybe limit the penalty to when the ships are crossing?

You know how hard that would be to program in? SDE doesn't just say "abracadabra" and it all happens. Try making rational statements, Bart.

Lose the Asperger's.

 

If they can turn the gun lines red when ships cross (and polls imply they can) or make shells hit the crossing ship when they cross (and they do), they can make a TK penalty that only applies to crossing.

What that could possibly have to do with any dimension of ASDs is beyond me. 

Crossing is of course to be avoided. He's specifically talking about "shooting each other" not "shooting while crossing each other". Why your mind would jump to only crossing is beyond me. There's already an incentive not to cross. Well, there's several really. This proposal ^^ would just be another for that aspect of play. 

As it stands, we don't need to change the situation to encourage people to avoid crossfiring more than we already have. The problem lies in people not paying attention, not in the degree of punishment. No one has knowingly crossed and thought "mehhhh yeah I can afford to fire even though only one of my guns will land on the enemy, i'll possibly kill my teammate hindering my team, and I'll lose exp". Red lines I'm still in favor of. 

Yes, you're right it is possible to jerk around with other players' exp by shooting them. I'm sure there's some way to work around this though. (who shot first, etc)

Ultimately I've never complained about how my game turned out exp wise for anything other than unknowinly shooting when a ship crosses, so I'm fine with things the way they are, depending on how the red-line proposal is mulled over. The only thing I might like changed is say splash damage causing hits to my exp because of shooting at subs, etc. 


So what would we propose here? Good to discuss, better to hand something in.

You want to discourage griefing by allowing a troll DD to shoot at a BB5 and screw up his grind.

How on earth does punishing the victim of a TK encourage people not to TK each other? By your logic, we should throw victims of robbery and assault in jail alongside the criminals that did it. The current system encourages people not to TK as it will result in them getting their exp nerfed. All your idea does is punish the person getting TK'ed who may be completely innocent and has done nothing to provoke it, and reward the TKer even more by not only damaging a friendlies vessel but also nerfing their experience.

 

 

 

Seriously, did you actually think this through before you posted?

You think I have Asperger's? That's another thing you know nothing of. The problem with you Bart, is that you want a game that allows for zero screw ups, zero mistakes. That's never going to happen. Period.

The TK penalties mean that most BBs won't shoot when someone crosses them. And if you don't get shot when you cross, what else is there to discourage crossing?

Being crossed when you're fighting and knowing that you can't shoot without nerfing your exp isn't any better than crossing some shared xp hobbit BB5 at spawn and getting TKed because he needed to test his guns.
