I had this same bug. It was because of advanced sounds, which I am guessing you have turned on. Hit f12 to open up the options menu (or f10 can't remember which), and set it to basic or goofy sounds. If this doesn't fix it, I have no idea what the problem is.

As noted in the common solutions set the sound back to "original" and you will be all set
