actually alex, pensacola is a lot more sturdy than alaska.

Do not only check DP to make this kind of affirmation.

Submergence has a massive influence, and Prem ship have a big advantage there. Alaska also got a glass jaw.

Not to mention Alaska has 1 less support slot then any other BB1 or PCA and has less gunspace then even the Pensacola.

What Salvos are you comparing? What crew on each ship? Compared with similar crews and similar salvos the result will be roughly the same, and the PCA likely doing better.

Decent armor... I hope your not decking an alaska (or pensa for that matter)
You cant consider at level crews normpearii. Damage per salvo is excellent with usn 12" and if you have good gunners they nearly block. You are ranged by UK/KM at the BB1 stage but you still range ijn. Damage is better then IJN/KM and you are fastest in Guam. I'm really not sure about the new nations though since low tiered BB rooms are not something people play anymore so I havent really faced them in any BB1 v BB1 situations.
I love doing 1 on 1s with various ships and I can tell you that in a Nevada vs Guam(me) match I had to OH almost constantly and weave like nuts to even have a chance while I was nuking his scouts.

After 10 minutes I had only managed to get him down to 5k health before I was crippled and sunk.
I even had far better spread and the 12"s with LHE, but he outranged me easily
Guam (as well as alaska) have great AA platforms (and yes US AA range is limited making going for scouts in bb rooms a bit more difficult). Put against a nevada, the guam should be able to out AA, kill the scouts and blind him. A blind 1 v 1 comes down to praying and hoping your blind salvos land magnificantly on their muzzle flashes. I love BB rooms in KM/IJN in large part for the AA. I may start slow in the rooms, but I'll spend a large part of my time managing my scout (ensuring i'm not losing mine... atleast slower then they are), AAing down scouts and just holding a line biding my time. I assure you when they run out of scouts and I still have mine the game gets a lot easier. This can be done quite well with Guams in respective BB level rooms particularly with its speed, changing up direction after firing while they're blind to you.
