To answer your question, the stats all point to the USN being the superior fighter (all lines/nations).
However, It is not a lost hope to take on a squadron of US T4s. I run UK T4s (worst of the worst); and have a pretty decent time with them and all others.
The best trick is to send large squadrons up against a couple of planes, regardless of the type of plane, it just can't handle numerical superiority. Also having a very good DP plane, it will stay up and take more hits, all the while still pounding out ammo at the enemy. So all-in-all, I would not lose too much sleep over US T4s. Sometimes you just have to keep sending wave, after wave, after wave up to do battle and wear them down.
Just don't play their game in dogfights. They will try to redirect their flights and get you to follow them. Just turn and go the other way, and if no fight is no fight, then that's okay..you're still alive to go hunt some bombers.
You can't stop a squadron of T4s hovering over your BB line. But you can pick them off, a few at a time with larger squadrons and wear them out.
