  • B65 question

Hi all,

I am currently in a Fuso but some of my support crew are a bit lower level (mid-50s), also I am not really enjoying that ship, the playstyle doesn't quite suit me.

Yes I know Fuso is considered a strong BB2 but I don't really like playing aggressively and rushing with my firepower. I like range and speed and BC playstyle and Fuso seems to lack those.

I'm thinking of investing in a B65 but I wanted to ask about it first before I commit money.

Do the 12" guns on the B65 outrange the Fuso guns (2x 14" L) and by how much? I can't find them in the range chart. Do they outrange the Nagato 16.1" and if not are they at least close?

Is the B65 faster than Fuso and by how much?

I know it is lower lvl and will make my grind to Nagato slower but if it suits my style better I might enjoy the game more, then it would be worth the $5 =)

Finally, considering what I said about how I like to play, will I enjoy Nagato at-level or am I going to end up using B65 as long as I can? I don't mind because TBH I don't grind hard enough to hope to get Yamato anytime soon, I just want a IJN BB I can enjoy. I just want to get an idea if B65 is that ship for me.

All advice welcome!

many thanks =)

I'm not going to call you a prick because I know most of what you're saying is true.

But in my defense, I believe at least some of my lack of success is due to the fact that the aggressive playstyle of the Fuso (which can be very strong just as you said) simply doesn't suit me.

I know I need to work on my supports, and I will do that in time. But in the long term, I think I will enjoy playing a BC, with more range, better turning and eventually better speed, more than the Fuso and maybe also Nagato if the spread at lvl is as bad as people say.

I don't expect a leap change in power level, I just expect a shift in playstyle to how I want a ship to feel. To me, the Fuso feels like a Warrior of traditional MMOs and RPGs... and I always played the Archer!!! =P

with the crew you described I'm afraid B65 will be slower than the fuso.

As I said, better base speed, but harder to speed cap. Your support are abysmal at best.

BB4-5 will still outrange you. The bit of extra range won't help you if you dont have the correct support to run the ship decently.

For the rest. go SN if you really hate rushing. IJN does it a bit.

Well, I got the B65 in the end and actually I am reasonably impressed. My speed did drop a bit as you say but I bought a +12 and a +11 engie (both mid 30s lvl) and am training them up through Simakaze on my second BO and eventually my good old Oyodo til they are B65 level.

What seems to have made a difference actually is the range increase (i know it's small but somehow I really feel it) combined with the turning circle. A couple of times I managed to swing into range, fire and swing back out before getting fired back at and that was fairly satisfying since I could never do that in the Fuso. My atk still isnt spectacular but at least its regularly over 10k and hell, the ship looks awesome! =) I will play it intermittently as I level my supports.

I have a SN crew lvl 55 with more or less correct lvl supports, going for Kronstadt although I'm dreading the grind to Izmail (i want to do it in the Gorki because I think that's still the lesser evil compared to the BB1). I like the SN overall playstyle but I'm a little worried about the lack of speed and turning circle. Although I like the range and the defensive stance, I don't like being a sitting duck when it goes wrong.

TBH I should probably have played KM. I would happily sit there in a Scharnhorst or a O-pro with 11" outranging and poking little bits of damage then running away.

Another useable advice :

If you feel it's too hard to speed cap B65 with your support , you should try CV Engine III Weavy .
It make your B65 drop 1 knot of cruise speed , but have far more better Overheat ratio .

B65 is a very sucky PBB, but I found it easier to level, and has more sailors slots than fuso or nagato. I actually used it all the way to the yamato. I played it speed whored, and because my dp gunners are only still armament sailors i used HH on the t slots. followed by my aa escort with sonar, I was a real mean sub hunter, which can give 50k+ attack, without rushing out and getting one shot. best game so far was 204k attack with at level b65. b65 is not a match for the pbb;'s but definitely easier to grind than the bb2 and 3's

oh thanks Shira that's nice to know. Can I put the original engine back afterwards if I don't like it?

I bought 2 lvl 55 engies recently and my speed went to 40 knots (still 2 slower than Fuso was but getting there). Might try the CV engine idea.
