  • CV Fighter Vetting?

Hi all,

I enjoyed playing cv on a previous account so I would like a CV again.

I was going to use my bb5 rep, eng, a seaman and 5 fighters and 3 bombers. I will be buying some elite
fp's and i know they want 150 vets each (at least). But my question is this: Is there a best time to roll the vets? I mean
at lvl 12, 25, 50 etc?

Thanks in advance :)

For the amount of vets you plan on putting on your fighters Ace fighter would be best.

I would say 5/3 is the best for a balanced setup. 3 groups per launch for bomber and plenty of fighters to support your team and screen your bombers.

Think competitiveness though. 5 fighters is extremely awkward to juggle, trying to keep them coming as theyre going down would be weird with that.

Not really awkward. I have a total of 7 odd fighters in my CV. I would have wished I have 8 but the eight slot came handy for a BB6 engy for my Lexington. My first wave is 3-3-3 and the second and third waves are 5-5. I can use 2-2-2 on my first wave to faster loading and be able to intercept scouts in the early minutes of the battle. They can buy me enough time to load my 5-5 and slug it on with enemy fighters.

The problem will show up with I hit PCV, I would really wish for the eight fighter and still retain my engy. It is fairly useless if I will load 7 fighters and one tb/db. If I'd do that I will just end up in the worst area in the Jedi forums.

For PCV and CV6 level crew I find there is no need to use full launches. For PCV sometimes I will do 3/3/3 and sometimes I will do 3/3/4 and split the group of 4 off. For CV6 I have only 7 fighters since it was made for original 7 launch Lex and I use 3/3/3/3 and keep one group always aboard for an emergency.

CV experts (ok, V2 and Ewood)

I'm getting close to CV6. I'm running 4 FP, 2 DB 1 TB. (I've got a 3 DB kinda close). I'm finally at the point where my FP are tearing up other PCVs (Elite, boosted, 170 vets, max experts L105). From running all those other lines, I've got quite a few options available to me but I'm not sure what I should concentrate on as I've never had a CV6 and to level the wrong sailor means shelving it again.

Of course, any fighting vehicle is judged on mobility, firepower, protection. My priorities are:

1)Effective planes so I can attack/defend
2)Most speed possible so I can keep myself away from trouble
3)Most SD possible so if I do take a hit, I stay afloat long enough that I MIGHT survive)
4)Firepower to keep SS and pesky CL/DD away

Running 7 pilots has been pretty effective to this point. Although I've had some good/bad with running 2DB/1TB or 3DB, the F/B split has worked out. That leaves me with 2 support and 2 gunner slots. I have a L114 Engineer so he's a lock. After that, I've been running 2 gunners and a seamen.

My chief seaman is L108, Elite, boosted, 130 vets. Is he really making a big difference with my pilots? If the real benefit of him is the SD he gives, should I yank him now and move my restorer along? Will I hit the cap without a restorer?

Does the midway have enough gun slots that I only need one gunner instead of the two that the PCV has? I'm running HH and it works pretty darn good. Should I yank the seaman and a gunner and add the restorer and another engineer? I've got a L88 elite boosted with 150 vets.

If I have enough guns, if I'll hit the cap anyway, should I run the two engineers, one gunner, and a repair? I've got a few of them in the low 70s kicking around.

What do you think???

What stat is your seaman's elite stat? Potential or fighter?

Sadly, it was pot. I didn't understand how it worked until he was up around L70 and I'd already boosted and vetted him :(

I dont believe in seaman. Even if they work as intended the small % boost is not worth the sailor slot and the bve.

Then I should take him off and work with either a restorer or another engineer.
