Not true. Minimal value for sonarman is NINE MARKS. Max for super vetted sonar (under o over water) is 13 or 14 marks. So no way can be twice.

Another answer for sub OH and detection: not true at all. Not a single trusteable proof of that and now it will form part of the eternal miths about submarine warfare....
RESUME ABOUT KNOWS FACT ABOUT SONAR RANGES (marks to "colour" shadow. To dark shadow is some more)
SS submerged without sonar ability (without sonarman aboard or soanarman with zero ability) ----------> 3 marks
SS submerged, CL, CV with sonar ability (with a sonarman with at least 1 rookie) ----------> 9 marks
SS submerged, CL, CV with high level sonar ability (with a sonarman @ lvl 90) ----------> 13 or 14 marks
FF "natural" sonar --------> ??? (some like 6?)
I see subs with high level crew (some like 100 o 110) doing 14 marks but i dont have a 120 level sonarman to messure exactly :).
RESUME ABOUT MYTHS
OH in a submerged sub consume more air
OH in a submerged sub affect or cut your sonar ability to detect other ships o other submerged subs.
too much OH in a submerged sub destroy your "F" keyboard!!!
Over heat underwater is sane and completely safe, sub-brothers!
The only thing recomended is the "eternal reload state" 2 step rule:
If u r in surface, then you reload air but spend Over Heat Time engine like hell!
If submerged, then you reload OHT but spend air!
