  • Help with Fuso please

Heh, I've been posting a lot in IJN recently.

Anyway, here goes.

So I have my crew, lvl 82 BO + gunners VE, 4 Engies lvl 74 BVE, 4 reps VE lvls 75-80. I usually use my B65 (PBB xp rates and space for scout) but also my Nagato (no scout so I can train all supports... I know, don't kill me). I was thinking I want to spice up my grind a little. I figured I would re-buy a Fuso and mess around with it.

I remeber I hated it at-level (hence why I own a B65) but my crew was really bad back then. Now I feel I've had a bit of practice and a decent crew, I want to see what all the Fuss-o is about (see what I did there? =P)

I want to run it with 16" twins because I want a slice of that legendary firepower, this means I'll be hitting 39 knots OH (think that's what it does with this setup). I'll be using the same crew so slightly above level, 4/4 supports split.

I really want some more in-depth tips on how to use it. Please don't say "rush when the enemy is blind then run away" because I know this already but it's a pretty vague description. I'd like some more detailed advice from the veterans amongst you who use the Fuso, like how to know when the enemy is blind, where in the battle line I should be (in front, behind, alone, in a group?), which ships to rush and which to avoid etc.

I feel this ship is a bit out of my comfort zone in terms of the playstyle I like but I want to learn how to rush and I want to learn how to be good in a Fuso.

Sorry for the long post, if you put up with reading it then I'm all ears to your advice.

1st set armour penetration blows, UK AW set up will bounce all day.
While 2nd set have crazy power to cut armour.


Some people don't carry AP in naggy/fuso using shortage of ammo as pretext, which I still don't understand why they don't go for the second one.

I guess I stand corrected, but I will use the level 79 set, until I quit or the first set is made un-useable.

I play Fuso/Nagato with first set 16"s with no AP. I simply avoid AWs...then again, I haven't played Fuso or Nagato for at least a year now...

I also don't use AP and I generally don't see many AWs. The odd L2 now and again bounces my shells but apart from that HE never failed me. I do see a lot of people mis-using AP shells on non-armoured targets though...

Second set 16"D has basically the same range as the first set. It might have a 1 pixel deficit if that, spread on both is somewhat random though.
Going for it it has: amazing armor penetration with HE ( you really don't need AP, I used it a few weeks ago and I can't recall being bounced even once if near max range), better damage and better reload.

also they are a tiny bit lighter, but I don't think the weight saving will increase my speed because I already do 40 on OH. What I said before is, based on the chart in the IJN "Old Data" section, the range difference seems more noticeable than you describe. It looks like it's 32.5 vs. 32. I don't see why the damage would be greater, the shell size and weight is the same, and the HE damage rating is also the same.

However, I won't dismiss it completely, I will give it a try when those guns become available.
