Data Corrupted Issue - March 2011 Update

Stormvanger	Our favorite issue is still with us, so long now that I've put a YEAR in the update in the title. There's still no blanket fix for this issue, the updater still sometimes fails to update your installation correctly and the result is the "DATA CORRUPTED" issue we've come to know and loathe. Anyway, with the latest thread update, we've updated some of the procedures slightly. (I'd say "enjoy", but I know you won't.) There's no best way to fix it, as each fix depends on your PC's setup. And all our PCs are at least a little different. But if you are seeing the DATA CORRUPTED message, the method that has worked more often than not is as follows... 1 - Go into control panel, add/remove programs and uninstall Navyfield. 2 - Use regedit.exe to open your PC's registry. Search for "SD Enternet" and delete anything it finds. (IF you are not comfortable editing the registry, you can skip this step. But if it fails to solve your problem, you'll likely have to go back and do it again and add in this step after all. People have reported success both with and without this step.) 3 - Navigate to your SD Enternet directory (usually c:\program files\sd enternet) and delete it and all subdirectories. 4 - reboot. (it's windows, it loves this step. =) 5 - Go to the DOWNLOAD section of this site, the GAME DOWNLOAD subsection and download and install a fresh copy of navyfield. CNET will take longer but seems always reliable, while SDE's link is quicker. (Current version is as follows...) http://sdentglobal.nefficient.com/sdenternet/Download/NF1315.exe 6 - DO NOT START THE GAME AFTER THE INSTALL 7 - Now hit this URL and download the latest manual patch and run it. http://www.navyfield.com/chkcount/chk_download_05.asp?Code=button_patch 8 - Compatibility Mode is no longer a good idea, since the Hackshield patch. DO NOT use Compatibility mode. Steps 5 and 7 combined bypass the updater altogether and install the latest version of the game. This has worked for quite a few people. PLEASE test it out and let us know if it worked or not! IMPORTANT NOTE - some users have reported success by disabling their anti-virus software during steps 4 and 6, as non-standard or out-dated anti-virus programs can interfere with software installations. THE LAST THING TO TRY If you've followed the above steps and your computer is still trying to deny you your gaming experience, please open a support ticket on the blue column to your left. There might be something amiss with your account that only a GM can fix, or your PC could have a non-standard setup that a tech mod could advise you on.

Ostallen	did not have aproblem on my Xp computer but the Vista machine required both the updater and the game to be removed and reinstalled then updated prior to running, only after manually removing the updater, (it did not come out with the un-install,) did the game install and run right, took two tries to get it right, and almost three hours of download time, not real fast source. runs 4.0 now on both machines.

Badman82	A real shame. I have this issue as well. Have tried all suggested and nothing seems to work. I have Win XP and I am very fluent with this OS. I actually work in tech support for a telecommunication company and as mentioned know a lot when it comes to these problems. I have checked everything in the windows dir the NF dir and the registry. All fingers point to NF being the issue. I have spent a LOT of money on this game. Prob $300+ And After spending days on trying to fix this problem I think I am going to give up, as well as giving this game up. It should NOT be taking the programmers and the NF team to be taking THIS long on fixing the issue. I hope they know even new customers trying to play this game are having the same issue. I have tried to make a new account, and DL the game and everything from scratch like Im new to the game and I get the "data corrupted" error......incredible. Very poor poor job on SDE for allowing this to happen and for allowing to happen this long. As mentioned I will more then likely try whatever patch or bulls**t they create in order to fix this horrible problem they created. And if it does not work I will surely stop playing this game. And I will not think twice about returning for NF2. To think the game is in the making when this game is STILL not completely bug free and its been how long? Shame on SDE, and shame on the tech NF team. All the loss that comes from this is well deserved for allowing your customers to have to deal with soooo many problems glitches and balance issue with this game. I have always looked past the crap because I have spent so much on this game and figured I invested into it so much I might as well continue playing. This this is the straw that breaks the camels back, the nail in the coffin.

Stormvanger	The developers are working on it, is the best we can say. There will be an announcement sometime soon by people who know more about the game code than I do.

Missilehk	i have successfully used nf1286.exe to install this game and auto update to 1287 and it is successfully playing this game. GM...dont direct the problem to window vista, window 7....it is yr file's problem....so you released nf 1286.exe to us to download....the problem can be simply solved!!!!!!
