  • Data Corrupted Issue - March 2011 Update

Our favorite issue is still with us, so long now that I've put a YEAR in the update in the
title. There's still no blanket fix for this issue, the updater still sometimes fails to
update your installation correctly and the result is the "DATA CORRUPTED" issue we've come
to know and loathe. Anyway, with the latest thread update, we've updated some of the
procedures slightly. (I'd say "enjoy", but I know you won't.)

There's no best way to fix it, as each fix depends on your PC's setup. And all our PCs
are at least a little different. But if you are seeing the DATA CORRUPTED message,
the method that has worked more often than not is as follows...

1 - Go into control panel, add/remove programs and uninstall Navyfield.

2 - Use regedit.exe to open your PC's registry. Search for "SD Enternet" and delete
anything it finds. (IF you are not comfortable editing the registry, you can skip this
step. But if it fails to solve your problem, you'll likely have to go back and do it again
and add in this step after all. People have reported success both with and without
this step.)

3 - Navigate to your SD Enternet directory (usually c:\program files\sd enternet) and
delete it and all subdirectories.

4 - reboot. (it's windows, it loves this step. =)

5 - Go to the DOWNLOAD section of this site, the GAME DOWNLOAD subsection and
download and install a fresh copy of navyfield. CNET will take longer but seems
always reliable, while SDE's link is quicker. (Current version is as follows...)

6 - DO NOT START THE GAME AFTER THE INSTALL

7 - Now hit this URL and download the latest manual patch and run it.

8 - Compatibility Mode is no longer a good idea, since the Hackshield patch. DO NOT use
Compatibility mode.

Steps 5 and 7 combined bypass the updater altogether and install the latest version
of the game. This has worked for quite a few people. PLEASE test it out and let us
know if it worked or not!

IMPORTANT NOTE - some users have reported success by disabling their anti-virus
software during steps 4 and 6, as non-standard or out-dated anti-virus programs
can interfere with software installations.


THE LAST THING TO TRY

If you've followed the above steps and your computer is still trying to deny you your
gaming experience, please open a support ticket on the blue column to your left.
There might be something amiss with your account that only a GM can fix, or your PC
could have a non-standard setup that a tech mod could advise you on.

That's it!!! SDE & NF OWE us a fix on their servers! NOT advice on how the players can
"fix" the problem on their own computers. It is obvious that SDE & NF don't want players
on their game, otherwise, they would have fixed the problem that they created on the
servers. I refuse to try another "fix"!! I await a post that SDE & NF have truly fixed
the problem on their servers.

Thread header is modified again, folks. People are having success with loading an older
version of the NF code and then patching to the latest. Instructions are updated. Please
test, then come back here to report success or agonize over failures. =)

Personally, I have officially tried EVERYTHING and NOTHING works!! This is a problem that
was created with the last patch from NF & SDE. Therefore, I feel that the problem should
be fixed by them and not put on to the end-user (the player.) This is beyond anything
that I have encountered in other games. If there was a problem, generated by the company,
then it was fixed by the company...period! Don't get me wrong, this is a great game, good
people to play with. But come on, enough is enough. I feel that SDE & NF owe us an
answer as to when THEY will fix this.

I submitted another ticket after literally trying all fixes. Seems to me that we spend our
money on a faulty product. I like to play Navyfield good group of people to play with, but
come on can we get a fix already please. It obviously isn't working and seems to me that
Vista has an issue with it as well.

I just want to play and use items that i have paid for.

personely i am gotta wipe my comp but i had a data file problem as well but lucky for
me i got a 2nd comp that can run NF no problem so i am thinking it might be a NF
problem while being downloaded

what he was saying is that it DOESNT work for vista....i have tried almost every work
around that has been posted short of regedit (which i dont feel i should have to do so im
not going that far)

it would be helpful if you guys could maybe....backtrack instead of fixing the new problem
with more patches....just revert back to before.

I do hope there is a sure fire fix soon...

Once the problem affected more than 50 people i would say its a code error not a PC error.

This is soo impossible, i don't see a how a problem can be related to the pc, when it
affects almost all the PC's, it might be related to the software that most pc's share, but
its SD's fault for making something that isn't compatible with half of the PC's, im trying
to do this "simple" data install with no luck, I don't know how this system works, but
other MMO's i played atleast had a patch reset. I also don't believe in Players having to
conform to the dev's screwing up. I enjoy the game play, but the tech support SUCKS.

Found a fix that worked for me worth a try for anyone else.

First i uninstalled NF and deleted SDenternet folder from program files.

reboot computer

next i downloaded the client off the NF website.

then i downloaded patch 1286 from....

installed client.

installed patch 1286

run NF (nf will auto patch to 1287)

Run NF .
Blow stuff up.
