  • How to get the best fighters

I have been calculating if is important or not powerlevel the fighter pilots.
As you know, "real ability" is not the same thing as displayed ability, if you level a
fighter properly, you are gaining more displayed ability, but you loose crew growth.
If you powerlevel the fighters it helps you a bit for getting more real ability.
But how much? is this important? I will put some results here.
For the calculations im using km fighters base 11/12.

-Green line is keeping them as fighters pilots.
-Blue line is keeping them as ACE fighters.
-Red line is making all the 3 upgrades.

------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
--------------
First calculations are made with 100 vets. (Oh, im suposing they are full of experts
too)

There is a relative difference between best and worst case of 3% on real fighter
ability that can give you like 2-3 lvl.
On aircraft the difference is bigger and it can give u more than 10lvls of advantage.
------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
--------------

------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
--------------

Now calculations are made with 200 vets

Differences remain the same (more or less) for real aircraft ability.
For fighter ability differences seems to be smaller. Notice that now the best case is
the blue line.

------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
--------------

------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
--------------
It seems that will be interesting putting these results in fuction on number of vets in
just one graphic.
Lets see:

No surprises for aircraft real ability, allways the green line is the better result.
But for fighter real ability ... there are alternances. In the range of vets showed,
best case is blue line.
Anyways it moves in the range of 2-4% that gives you like 2-4 lvl of advantage.
It doesnt seems a big difference ... but it exists.
------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
--------------

------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
--------------
One more thing, remember that number of vets is capped at 40% of maximum crew
size (correct me if im wrong)
For a fighter that you keep as fighter pilot until lvl 120 the maximum number of vets
will be 260
For a fighter that you keep as ACE fighter pilot until lvl120 the maximum number of
vets will be 236
For a fighter that you promoted it to fighter squad leader at lvl75 the maximum
number of vets will be 218.

With those numbers of vets we have these values (ignore the X axis, it means
nothing)

Well, these are more significative differences than the others.
So if you have a lot of money to spend on game, you know what you have to do,
just make lvl40 upgrade.

(Another questions will be if exists a capp for fighter ability and how important is
aircraft ability on fighters)
------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

I dont understand why if there are lots of CV drivers with a lot of $$$ worried about
how to have the best fighter pilots ... noone made calculations.
I dont use to post a lot on forums, I hope u like it, and you understood my poor
english :p

well i didnt read through all the replies to this thread, but from what i've read, it
doesnt seem like you use the assumption that there is a fighter ability cap. i've read
from some other threads that a lot of km fighters are getting owned by uk and ijn
fighters, when both pilots are at lvl 120. how does this affect your finding, if it affects
it at all?

Now, I'm not really into optimizing sailors like you guys are but I have to admit this is
my favorite use of Matlab that I have EVER seen xD. How long did it take you to do the m
file?

Recommend for the nice detail and layout and for the epic Matlab usage xD.

Which Matlab is that...6?

"How about keeping a +12 fighter as Rookie pilot until level 120 then classing as fighter?"

Absolutely, positively NO. NO as in don't do it. Rookie is not going to give your FP the
fighter ability he needs. Classing to fighter and never classing again would definitely
be better than leaving him as a rookie... and he couldn't use fighters since he's not the
right type of pilot. ;)

"wow, in order to achieve best fighter we have to class at 40, never class again and
vets up to 260 ?
hmm... this is gonna cost a lot of REAL money"

I think this may be in taken in the wrong context. If you want the best pilot which could
ever be made then you do one thing. If you know you are only going to carry 110 or so
vets and 50-100 recruits then you might do a totally different classing.

The context is this: what set up are you most likely to do. Are you they type who uber
vets to 140, 160, 200 or more? Are you the type who carries only 1 recruit or do you keep
50 or so? Do you keep 100 or 150 recruits? Do you vet to 70 and call it even? Given your
most likely setup of vets, experts and recruits, you can then determine the best classing
strategy. There are many variables which affect the 'true ability' of the pilot so you
have to keep all of those in mind.

If in doubt then class on time as done normally and be done with it. There are many
variables out there which make a difference. The fighter ability cap also plays a part at
the higher levels.

How about keeping a +12 fighter as Rookie pilot until level 120 then classing as fighter?

How much true ability will he have with 109 vets, 209 vets and the vet cap(I don't
remember the vet cap for a level 120 rookie)?

A graph would be appreciated too.

Please put the graphics in a 2nd post next time, otherwise quite interesting

"if the difference is like you said around 1-2% then id just class them squad leaders
anyway for the stats on paper"

That's between Fighter only and Ace only. Both of them have a measurable advantage over
classed normally most of the time. I won't have the spreadsheets available until Monday
(they're at work) to find the exact amounts and in what situations.

It's interesting the way it works but more thought and research is needed before anyone
should go this route. I do not believe SDE can/should change the way pilots work by
making them get more recruits as you class rather than fewer because it would make
obsolete almost all pilots done previously (over a period of time).
