Turns out my father's pancreatic cancer has taken a turn for the worse, and he will not be getting better from this. (Currently at Stage 4). Just thought that I would share with the community that I know that some of you have gone through a stressful moment like this in your life and have dealt with it successfully. So any helpful advice is welcome! Personally my navyfield time will be constricted, but I will do my best to continue my duty here even though this real life issue will take major priority over anything else. My prayers and best wishes go out to anyone who has had anyone they knew go through this, and best wishes to you all!
Happy sailing, and see you on the battlefield.

My father had stage 4 esophogeal quite a few years ago. He was pretty lucky and survived though. If you ever need someone to talk to, hit me up. Best wishes for you and your family.

I can only wish you and him the best for the time you have left. It's always hard when this happens. My only solace was one you may not be able to pull:
When my grandfather was going (same deal: pancreatic), I was stuck in school too far away to even contemplate visiting. I got to beat myself up over that rather than having to actually see it. He died just after finals.

My great aunt - the one everyone loved because she showered us with presents every time we met - also went to colorectal cancer.

Hello  Stefan, Thank you for sharing this with all of us. It shows how incredibly brave you are my friend. To share this in way that is very open and personal. I am sure you have comforted someone already who is going through some difficult times here on NF. I can only hope I have the strength of heart you have shown here, if everI  receive news about loved one as difficult as your family has received. I am thankful the server went down and I was able to see this. I am sure your father is a wonderful man, it's obvious he raised an awesome son. Positve thoughts and prayers headed your way.
Thanks again Stefan

Stefan, never talked to you personally before.

But i would like to say that i deeply feel with you.

20 years ago i lost my mother by liver cancer. I know how it feels when you have to accept, that there is no point of return and you have to say goodbye.

Difficult to give a advice in such situation.

Try to let the time which is left to be "normal" as possible.

It helps the peoples who have to let go a lot.

The very best for you and your family! Be strong!

Halstenbek

Dont know you. But I will say this.

Lost my father to cancer (different kind). I dont wish that disease on a rabbid dog. But dont let it get you down. Sure there will be pain if you do lose him, but take that pain and make it a strength. I couldnt be there when my father died as I was stationed in Japan at the time. I often thought about the things I wanted to say and felt guilty I couldnt. But I took it and applied it to my life. I think my father would be proud of the success I have achieved since.

Do the same bud. Remember everything he taught you, remember the good memories and be successful in life. If you do, then his work is complete and the legacy he leaves behind is....you.
