Can anyone share a tip on what is a good armor build for Atlanta without too much compromise on speed? Thanks in advance.

.2 belt to halve torp damage, bulge till you lose a knot.

Your speed should allow you to maneuver around torps.

This setup is good till Nebraska btw as far as USN is concerned.

Thanks aingeal. How about Deck and Bulk Head?

Oh, won't I be vulnerable for High Angle shots if I do not have a Deck armor? (sorry I'm new to this game.)

You cant mount enough deck to stop anything. Just use the advice above and forgot the other armor its useless for US. To be honest its pointless to put deck armor on any US ship.

Bulk is useful for a number of things, but still not as important as belt armor. Personally, I go 0.2 belt, 3 bulkhead, then add bulge armor until just before it slows me down.

If you don't know how armour works. Better to not carry anything.

Armour is only a placebo, unless you know how to deal with it.

Bulk can help you keep OH to a lower damage threshold, however I've never seen anything to show how much is neccessary to make it beneficial. I've heard the rumors that it helps prevent against crits and sailor loss as well but everyone I know whose tried it disagrees with that rumor.

there are many "rumors" in NF aye.

The only real proven facts about armor are :

-0.2 belt halves torp damage once the bulge is gone.
-Armor works on an all or nothing relation. Either you bounce, either you get it straight to the teeth.

So if you cannot pile enough armor to bounce enough of your BB tier shells, its not worth it.

And remember that even the L2 with crazy armor get penetrated by SY and Amagi HE at max range, and nebby 18" can go through quite well too.

As far as bulkhead goes, it lowers the OH - off DP limit. So if you lose your OH at 6000 dp, you might lose it at 4000 with full bulk.

But seriously, once SD is gone, you can go from full green to dead with a single shell. I dare say you totally skipped the point where bulkhead was worth it. And it slows you down to AW speed value of around 35.

Even if you go UK eventually, make sure to find the armor value needed to bounce for any ship you want to armor, and understand well that you will never bounce EVERYTHING with a workable battle setup.

On the side attacking something armored also remember there is an immunity or twilight zone which AP becomes ineffective before belt hits start.
