Hi all..

I'd like to suggest a Open help channel to be introduced to navyfield. A chat window that is open from the start of playing NF, and does not require a radioman to use. Also with a opt in/out option attached to the help tab at the top of the screen when in dock.

I think this will really help to introduce new players to navyfield, and also provides help for older players on certain subjects. This is more a player run help channel, but of course i also think it would be useful for moderators also to keep in touch with the community at times. I personally would be happy to use this channel to help out new players starting, as i am sure so would some others.

The last 2 weeks i have been helping out a few players in game, no names needed. 1 person is new to the game, i meet this player in a trade room, when they poped in to ask 1-2 questions, and it went from there, it turned out they were at lvl's 8-10 already ,and had already classed up half the new sailors into radiomen, i'm sure something we have all done at the start of playing this game :). After some time i managed to give some advise to the player, and am still helping them out. But this would not of happened if we had not met by chance in a trade room.
Also i have been helping out 2 older players with crew checks and advise. I certainly find that people enjoy there game more if they understand it better, by the end of 2 weeks of helping them, they now know a lot lot more about the game and there chosen nation etc. We also managed to buy sailors and fix there crews up much better,( a quick BIG Thankyou to a few older players that also helped us out this week, you know who you are). The result being, 2 players now with good crews, and they are much more enjoying there gaming experiance. I do feel perhaps there are more members that would enjoy some advise, or even to be in-channel just listening and learning.

I hope that this idea gets a lot of +1's because i really think it can help the community grow again.

I do not suggest this is a TeamNF run channel, but perhap not a bad idea. Also rules for channel will be needed and upheld, such as no trade spam, or no abussive(sp?) language or harrasment of players etc, all = channel ban, or perhaps more!. For spamming in channel, a system could be used were if a player uses less than 3 secs between messages, they get a auto spam lockout from channel,(not able to type again), for 30-60 secs. I've seen it used in other games and works well to stop some spammers.

I think a lot of players would use this channel and hopefully it is something worth looking into implementing.

Cheers

I really like this idea. I'm sure we all remember stumbling around in our first FF's thinking, "OMGWTFAMIDOING :0."
Maybe this channel could be introduced into the beginner guide where it's like <---- click here to buy ship when you first start playing. There could be a text box somewhere on the screen that could say "type (channel #) to join help channel [or whatever it is to join a specific channel]. More people would know about it if there was an advertisement for it, so to say.

Hi all..

I did put a little suggestion in my above post as to were it could go. I think it would be wise for all new players to be auto entered into this channel, with the option to opt in/out attached to the "help tab" at the top of harbour screen, i hope you know the 1 i mean. Or perhaps a new tab just next to the same help tab, but saying help channel or something similar.

Cheers

Recommended. Make it channel 1, with all players below level 60 and new accounts automatically in the channel from login (which can be removed from the options).

Trade channel should be channel 2 also.

Fleet recruitment channel 3.

Great Idea but I fear one thing.

Many times there are players that have misinformation and it will spread very quickly there.
At least in the forum here, people provide links to tests, there are player's experience and
reputation more readily accessible so it's possible to judge based on that. In the chat, people
will just say anything and it might too easily be taken as fact.

Here, when the wrong info about AAW or Armor has come up, players were quick to jump in and
correct things. On that channel, if there was one player with wrong information and nobody to
counter it, many players with misclassed sailors, wrong stats, or terrible ship set ups may
result.

It still happens on the forums; Look at the amount of players that say subs aren't overpowered... And their crazy arguments in the test server forum when presented with video evidence.

Just have it moderated. If someone makes a genuine mistake, then fair enough. But if its constant errors, ban them from the channel. Plus, if enough people use it, misinformation will be quickly shown as wrong.

But if that player have got misinformation from the beginning, shall they ban that player from the channel to then?
But who shall moderate this then, i dont belive TNF want to moderate it, and i have seen very few TNF people on kaiser latly top 2-3 mods on 3-4 days there.
Shall they put up a new team in TNF there it's says on the squad chat something or?
Thats sound as a good idea but i bet that thos players some gonna moderate that gonna get pissed after a while.

TNF are fairly active on Nebby. Maybe have FM's doing it now, and some veteran players. If someone keeps providing misinformation and refuses to stop even after being corrected, then banhammer, as they aren't helping.

ljsevern i dont belive that the GM's got time for that atm.
Sure i bet the veteran players is up to it but not in the length, i would try my best to help new players some i already do if some one ask, if i got the time of course.
But this need to think over who some gonna be moderate the channel and if they gonna be a part in TNF for i bet that there isnt any command at the server or a code for it in game yet some can ban some one from a channel.
