Hi everyone,

since weeks now there is the issue with plane balance and lots of people beeing unhappy about the CV playstyle.

so here is a idea which i had:

to improve fighter cover or light for BB players ( let's hope they can hit enemy ships with their guns when they see them) and the fun you can have as a CV player while DBing or TBing other ships i was thinking of a merger of both plane types.

the Strike planes would be modified T2 and T3 fighters with slithely modified stats. They would be available at a later stage then the T2 fighters and would requiere the classing of a fighter pilot at round about level 65-70 for Ace and at lvl 80-90 for Squad leader.

These new pilots would be able to pilot the new/modified planes which could be equipded with rockets. before you start whinning or crying'omg, first subs, now rockets' their damage should be smaller then bombs or torpedos. I would suggest a dmg per rocket of ~1000dmg ± the different nation boni + a dudrate like with torps.

how to operate the planes?

you can play them as a regular fighter.

to make it a bit more interesting and not too simple you would have to use manual bombing. as you might use it already, you would have to set a mark at a spot on the map and directly afterwards the plane switches to a 45 degree angle and proceed with its descent. thereby you will have to train timing of these planes and it will be different to the current DBs. you would have to manually release the rocket by pushing the button of your choice. the dive can be initiated at any alttitude. after you fired the rocket the plane ascents again and can now funcion as a fighter/recon-plane again.

your "plane balance issue" and this suggestion are mutually exclusive

The rockets you are envisioning wouldnt do much to the structure of anything bigger than a CL. Too much armor on CA's. Although they should be a subs worst nightmare...

The rocket i'd love to see (note: there would have to be a balancing factor on them, large armament space maybe?) could be used on a couple of different planes we ALREADY HAVE although itd need some international counterparts.

But that part was arieal support for ground troops such as marines not sinking warships like true divebombers

i think ill agree on this. or lets just make it this way.. since most of the time or maybe most of every battles CV that gives light to BB's especially FP whore players.. maybe they should atleast give the FP's an attack on the ships..like strafing enemy SHips and the damage will be 1 or 0 per plane.. its not a big deal ayt.

fighter bombers in the pacfic could carry up to 2 bombs and did sink ships.

maybe simply drop the level 120 scout down to level 100 scout for level requirements? would provide a more heavily armed scout earlier (and more numerous) instead of only the level 120 scout pilots having them. and for those that don't know, the level 120 scout plane, per nation, has about the same firepower as a level 40, T1 (not locals), Fighter Plane. very useful for shooting down other scouts, or even going after dive & torpedo bombers with.

there's also the option of arming your scout planes with mines that get dropped around the enemy lines. however, I do believe that these are an exp penalty currently? the same as using torpedoes/HH and regular guns for any/all ships in the game.

this would be the idea: multi-purpous fighters.

i know that twin-engined planes were discussed in the past and most likely will be in the furture, so why not give them a chance?

mines on scouts is fun, but only just, since you can't engage regular fighters nor attack in a controlled fashion any ships.

striving would be a great addition to the game and could result in reduced belt-armor of the attacked ships.

i think that rockets with a damage of roughly 1000k woukld be effective against a huge number of ships and could also be used to fight a lot of different support ship classes (e.g. Moltke/Mandel or Emden/Raynard, Atlanta and Emerald) or for hinting CVs (which mainly have a low SD anyway) apart from several BBs with poor armour capability.

in the end i think that they would be a nice additon to the game. hey would offer an additional playstile and give F-CVs the chance to do something else instead of click-spamming and altering altitude all the time.
