Your 3 sentences are contradicting.

It would still clutter the mini map. But it is a good idea, they did have this kind of technology available at that time, and it was being used on warships. If it was implemented, the images of the planes on the mini map would have to be visible enough for all on the team, and would have to be a must on CV's and CL's.

Plus there would have to be a level system for it. The lower the level the weaker the images come in , and the shorter the range of picking them up would be. The higher level the better the images come in and the longer range it would have, but there would have to be a cap on the range, cause you can't have them picking up planes as soon as the lift off the enemy's carrier.

You could even take it further(if the game code would allow it) as to have a radar cross section, as the smaller the plane the weaker the image comes through, as to give a "stealth" quality to the nation that has smaller fighters/scouts.

But still, this will never be implemented. it would take away from scouting, and give a unfair advantage to higher level CV's, that all they want to do is farm off lower level planes. Although this is a good idea, and may be used in NF2? I don't even think the game code would allow something like this.
