Seriously, no Maryland?

Often saw them and quite good with that dmg and range.

The Hyuga is a better ship with similar function.

Maryland and Colorado are just too wide center sprite for their level. Same with in IJN's case the Nagato. Unlike some of the other hulls in the level range, they are easier to hit at range.

5 best EBBs that in my opinion:

1. MN.Thermidor
Reasons: BB6 supplort slots, BB5 range, 44 knt, 12 tubes, fantastic AA, what else can you expect.

2. RM.Giulio Cesare (1914)
Reasons: This ship is not overpowered enough yet. SDE should make it have BB6 range, SS size, DD speed and FF reload time.

3. Vanguard 1946
Reasons: I'll just let the facts talk. I'm pasting my screenshots with 250K+ damage below. Some are from WAW. I average 150K in this ship and 1 out of 6 times I can make 230K+ damage. 200K is too easy for this ship (In the screenshots before June, I was leveling up 2 hero gunners with it. In those after June, I was leveling up 4 hero pilots.). In each game I went south, didn't use smoke or ship tuning items (but my teammate might have popped a few smokes for me).

4. SN.Stalingrad 1953
Reasons: Near-BB5 range, 40+ knt.

5. RM.Leonardo da Vinci
Reasons: If it has 8 supplort slots as said in Game Info -> Ship Tree

PS. Forget about  USN.Maryland and IJN.Hyuga. Their firepower is good, but 40(+) degree guns and lack of range are objective disadvantages that player kills cannot counter, no matter how good the skills are. Also forget about IJN.Shinano. Only 7 support slots don't give it enough OH, and when its OH is over, it's a dead BB. Any good-skilled PBB player (excep IJN PBB...) can slaughter this ship. So good luck hitting 42+ knts, zig-zagging PBBs with high-angle guns.

I think a few more screenies would help ;)

I disagree on your opinion of the Shin, I OH for 185 sec and always have fun/do well in it.

Cheers

Looks to me like someone just doesn't like high angle guns in general. Once you've learned to use them, even rushing ships aren't that big a threat. The trick is anticipating where the enemy will be. I take the Shinano into World at War and do perfectly fine with it. The only problem is that you have to play aggresively to get much attack because everyone's scared to death of you :P

The Thermidor, however, would be up there if I'd had it when I wrote that. I still, however, wouldn't put it above rank 5 or so, for the simple fact that it doesn't offer anything really special. I also grade on fun and unique aspects of the ships, which is why the NY is ranked so high and the Mikasa, a terrible ship, is even an honorable mention.

i'm not going to try to pigeonhole a mythic top 5 ... there is no such thing  ...

but the EBB's i am familiar with that i think deserve honorable mention for standing out are :

IJN = EBBs shinano and hyuga
US = EBBs california and maryland
KM = EBBs stresemann and O-pro
UK = EBBs vanguard and valiant
MN = EBBs  thermidor and jean-bart and le harvre
RM = EBBs leonardo da vinci and julio ceasare(1914)
SN = EBBs stalingrad (* least familiar with this line so far *)

keep in mind that everyones posts on this topic are subjective opinion ..

Of course you can anticipate where your target is going to be, but why does yout target have to be where you anticipate it to be?

Why can't your target dodge and move in an unexpected fashion?

Don't ever underestimate your target.

It will be a foolish thing to do to rush Shinano the first 5 minutes into the game.

But in the last 7 minutes of GB, no Shinano survived my rushing and dodging Dunq.

To be honest, Shinano (when in sight) is one of my least feared EBBs. If there's no good opportunity to hit it, all I need to do is wear its OH out. Again, when it's out of OH, it'll be food to SS, TB, DB, etc. 7 support slots mean Shinano may have at most 2 of the following:
1) Good OH
2) Good Repair Rate
3) Good AA/HH

And I believe most of Shinanos we see in today's GBs can only achieve one of above.

Obviously, a Shinano with hero-sailored, properly late-classed, fully-vetted crew can achieve all 3 aspects, but this case is rare, and I do think anyone who has spent this much effort and money deserves all the good of this ship.

All in all, Shinano is a good and well-balanced EBB, having its advantages that can smash any AW QV without using AP, as well as disadvantages that can make itself quite vulnerable when its enemy knows how to catch a good moment to rush and dodge, but not in top 5 list in my opinion.

Your description is working not only on Shinano but every other KM/IJN ship with their low dmg tolerant. KM & IJN are both dmg magnet ships whether or not u have OH. Generally for most ships; No OH speed + blind = sure sunk.

And not everyone knows that u have sailors that can wear out other BB's OH time after 7 minutes of battle.

So I see someone went with easy mode and made a fuss about 45 degree gun. 45 degree not good for rushing? I'll have you know its in WaW as well.

PS : Please if you got no skill in handling 45 degree gun keep quiet.
