  • Trading Using Olives

As you will be aware at the moment there is a system for gifting olives to another account; however, there is no provided facility for the trade of items for olives between different accounts.  We are now working on introducing a system that will facilitate the trading of some items from one account in return for olives from another.  In the meantime the previous policy whereby we said it was not illegal to trade items for gifted olives, but we would not condone it or support it if it went wrong,  has been the subject of debate and a new policy has been formulated:

With immediate effect (from the date/time of this posting) the trade of olives for items in-game (including any individual item but also an account of items) is prohibited where there is not a SDE provided system that facilitates the secure and instant trade of the items involved for the return of olives.

There will not be any exceptions to this rule.

Official details on new trading system:

How it works

1)     Seller pays 1 olive for a registration fee and may post the listing.

2)     Maximum numbers of tradable sailors are 10 at once.

3)     Listing will be valid for 7 days. If trade is not made within 7 days, listing will be removed.

4)     Olive will be used as currency for all trades.

5)     When buyers click to purchase the sailors, the status will be changed to “pending”.

6)     GMs will check all the details and manually move the sailors.

7)     After trade is completed, olives will be paid to seller.

8)     There will be an additional 10 olive selling fee.

        (If buyers have insufficient amount of olives, trade cannot be made.)

9)    All trades are final. We are not responsible for any loss due to sharing account information.

10)  Trade spamming restrictions will be applied in battle rooms.

 **These changes will be applied after tonight's maintenance.

Will making olives the "bought" item and not the trading currency also be supported?

My logic says yes, but I'd like to be sure.

(Basically, Xk cred/olive.Currency exchange!)

At the moment this is considering a system where you could trade olives for in-game items. Credits are in-game items but we have not done the detail yet on which items will be tradeable for olives. When we get more fidelity we will be able to update.

I don't think so, since people won't be able to trade back the olives for money after eh?

Once they are "olives" money is in SDE pocket and remains there.

The main risk is over-inflation imo. Credits are going to lose value as in-game currency. Altough again, not as much as it would if it was to be straight cash.

I'd loved this idea of trading olives to another account but it must be well secured and put a very high security when trading olives.

Give the way Eve-Online works, it is a fantastic idea. Don't have a set value, let the open market decide.

Quite. But I believe we will see a massive cred inflation, since the demand for in game olives will probably reach highs that weren't seen before when it was behind the scene and not supported by TNF.

I'd be curious to see 1$= how many M creds after it goes through.
